Finally got my second manuscript revisions request back after 7 and a half weeks following submission. There are a handful of things I need to change before the June deadline, but I feel pretty good about its chances of being published.
I wanted to let people know that on the 3DS and Wii U eShops (in North America at least) there is a massive Capcom sale. Ace Attorney, Monster Hunter, Resident Evil all on sale for $2.99 each. So if you want anything on those systems from Capcom before the eShops close, now is the perfect time.
I love hearing Billy Mitchell dig his grave deeper and deeper. Not only are the people who allegedly confirmed his record shady as hell, but he didn't even use an original Donkey Kong arcade cabinet. He used a cabinet with an 8 directional stick, which provides an unfair advantage.
A tree in my neighbor's yard fell down and took out our power on the second floor. Thankfully, the first floor and basement weren't affected, but this is the first time something like this has happened. My neighbor was also just arriving home when it happened, so he was understandably shocked...
Keep in mind that Nintendo rebranded Dynamo Pictures, the studio behind the Pikmin short movies, as Nintendo Pictures earlier this year, and considering Miyamoto's ties to Pikmin, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a candidate for the next Nitnendo movie.
Yeah, they did an amazing job.
For anyone who doesn't know, there was a 10 minute reanimated Naruto video released earlier, and it looks stunning.
Spoiler warning. Pretty much every big moments from the original and Shippuden is shown.

The original Naruto anime premiered 20 years ago today. Despite having some problems, it was definitely a huge influence on me growing up, and the Chunin Exams is still one of my favorite arcs in anime.
I got my poster printed out today for the presentation I'll give next Monday. Definitely a little anxious about presenting at my first in-person scientific conference.
Yeah, apparently so according to this article I found about the incident: https://blockclubchicago.org/2022/06/24/car-fire-on-dusable-lake-shore-drive-snarls-afternoon-rush-hour-traffic-driver-uninjured/
I was stuck in traffic for over an hour going home, and it turns out it was because a car ahead of me caught on fire. First time I've seen that in real life.
I am worried that a lot of the planets will be copy and paste in Starfield. I hope they will have some good variety. The ground combat seemed rather generic but the space battles look awesome. That's what has me most excited.
Learning that The Legend of Korra premiered 10 years ago today makes me feel old. It's definitely still one of my favorites. While it may not reach the heights of its predecessor, I really like some of the deeper questions it asks about the role of the Avatar and if one is even needed in the...
I was able to establish my PhD committee this week. I'll be presenting to them once a year on my progress starting from next month. Tentatively have the first presentation scheduled for May 13th.
Had a pretty scary situation happen in lab today. A girl fainted. I was with her for about 2 hours after she regained consciousness (she was only out for less than minute) until her parents arrived since she declined calling 9/11 herself or having it called for her. Hope she'll be alright...
Well, I sure creeped myself out today by watching Perfect Blue. It was a good fit for Halloween.
Not too many trick or treaters around here today but at least there were a few.
Today was a makeup day for the chem class I'm TAing this semester. I had two people make up the first lab and one person made up Monday's exam that he missed. Honestly, a bit boring, but at least I was able to complete an assignment while I was on campus, since no one really needed my help.
Nice start to the second year of my PhD. I already had classes in person last fall, but after being all online in spring, it is good to be back in person once more.
Made it through the first week of teaching summer classes. I got Chem 101, which I also taught in the fall, so it's familiar to me. But because it's condensed to six weeks two days per week (M, W), the tempo is quite high. I wonder how much students actually remember after sitting through a 3...
The biggest problem with Metacritic is that game's with a low amount of reviews tend to have overinflated scores. Even though Ocarina of Time is my favorite game of all time, I feel its 99 has always been due to in part to only having 22 reviews. Nowadays every AAA game has around 100 reviews...
It is the worst for the first few weeks, but you get used to wearing braces fairly quickly. How long will you be wearing braces for? If you don't mind me asking.
Feeling really good. Spent some quality time with my brothers this weekend. One upside of this pandemic is that I've spent a lot more time with my family, and I feel a lot better as a result.
Moving to online only for the rest of the semester starting next week. I understand the safety concerns, but I admit I'll miss going on campus for at least a few months.
Just thinking how weird it will be to teach general chemistry to students this semester online. First week of TAing for the semester was mostly introductory stuff but I expect next week to be chaotic.
Hmm, just saw that Dragon Quest XI S is coming to both Xbox One and PS4 later this year so makes me think whether I should go for a graphically superior version of the definitive version of the game or go for the portability on Switch.
