This is meant to be a fun discussion thread about unpopular opinions you may have about the Zelda series. For example, I don’t love Ocarina of Time as much as most and I think that almost every Zelda title that succeeded it is a better game in most ways. I think that the gameplay and story are rather lackluster when you compare it with successors like Wind Waker or Majora's Mask. But that’s just my take on it. So, what are your unpopular Zelda opinions?

Four years later, I’m here to say, you didn’t play OoT when it first came out or else you would have been blown away!
You would have run down to the local Egghead store for a guide book to get you through the Water Temple.
Then, you would have continued with your life to be blown away again when BOTW came out.

what can you even say about this? not everyone was born at the right time for this game to blow them away, in fact many people here were born after it came out, that doesn't make a person's view of it any less valid than that of a person who was there when it came out, if anything it gives a good insight to how well it's aged when they don't have memories clouding their judgement

fair points… so let’s take away the “blown away” part… what hasn’t aged well?

It was my least favorite temple, but had my favorite mini boss, Dark Link!

I replayed a few years ago, DL’d the rom, bought a USB N64 controller…still forget.
Even went out of my way to buy the N64 game system and cartridges …

That is commitment. I never had trouble with Water Temple, but it was tedious. Its also not my favorite element, so I do not enjoy the ambiance. If it was instead a Frozen Temple, say something like Freya / Ice Queen was in, then I think I would like it.

I need to replay it again… you’re saying it’s doable, just tedious without help?

Yeah the tedious parts are the levels of water you have to keep changing to get to different parts of the temple and then defeat the Boss.
