I would be a Psychic type gym Leader, but I wouldn't be a power-hungry yet loney goth like Sabrina was in the anime. I would have Gardevoir- Hypnosis, Psychic, Focus Blast & Healing Wish
Espeon- Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, Psybeam & Dig
Gallade- Close Combat, Psycho Cut, Poison Jab & Earthquake'
Metagross- Bullet Punch, Magnet Rise, Double Team, Earthquake
Musharna- Hypnosis, Shadow Ball, Dream Eater, Toxic
Meloetta- Relic Song, Teeter Dance, Focus Blast, Thunderbolt

It obviously wouldn't be as effective as a proper weather team, but I'd attempt to form a decent team focused around weather (probably in Sandstorm or Rain). However, I would love to be a gym leader known to specialise in a particular strategy rather than type, ie a stall or offensive team. In my opinion that these strategy based teams as opposed to type based teams is where gym leader development should occur. I feel if this was done it would emphasise the importance of the battles with the Rival's balanced team.

If a had to pick a single type, a sample team might look something like this.

I would without a doubt be poison type gym leader. But the thing about my poison types would be that they all also have other secondary types making it difficult to bring one pokemon to effectively sweep them
Crobat (Poison/Flying), Nidoking (Poison/Ground), Venusaur (Poison/Grass), Tentacruel (Poison/Water), Gengar (Ghost/Poison) and finally Skuntank (Poison/Dark).

Psychic type. I freaking love those (my favorite being Mewtwo, I saved my Master Ball in FireRed just to catch him), and Espeon is awesome.

Seeing as there has yet to be a gym-leader that specializes in Dark-type Pokemon, I think it'd be the perfect title for me. Most of my Pokemon may sport low Defense, but they'd more than make up for it in Attack. They would also be strong against, as well as immune to, Psychic Pokemon. My party would consist of mostly Pokemon with mammalian, quadrupedal characteristics:

  • Absol;
  • Houndoom (secondary Fire-type);
  • Hunchkrow (secondary Flying-type);
  • Mightyena;
  • Umbreon;
  • Zoroark.

Probably not the best choice of Pokemon, seeing as the majority of them are pure Dark-type, which are weak to Bug-type and Fighting-type. However, Houndoom and Hunchkrow are useful against said types, due to the strengths of their secondary types. Still, not a great choice overall on my behalf. Perhaps aesthetics should not be my primary focus. Heh heh...

My two favorite types are normal and water. Actually if I went with normal I'd take it a step further and just have a Snorlax gym haha. I only ever played the first generation and I had a variety of Snorlaxes. One had kind of a traditional set-up with body slam, double team, rest, and hyper beam. Another had earthquake and rock slide, and the third had amnesia along with psychic and ice beam (and amnesia was overpowered in generation one since special wasn't separated yet).

Great to see people's preferences coming out through their teams. :3 Just wanted to say I reworked my post in regards to a water-restricted rain team. Keep them coming, it's really interesting to see people's teams!
