Three years and almost a thousand deaths for me the first time, and I did end up reqring internet help. Dropped to a hundred or so deaths the second time, which was still an awful lot, but much better.

Died 32 times, or used 32 continues? 32 continues would be a lot. My first time through on the VC a few months ago produced a total of 42 continues, and it was my first foray into the game since I was 10 or 11. It is tougher than most of the others, but practice does help. I have no suggestions...

I can't get into any Zelda titles post OoT. Just not appealing to me...

I am now able to get through the Death Mountain maze without using any continues. Is that a sign that I love the game too much and play it too often?

Completed LoZ, AoL, LttP, and OoT. Attempted MM and TP, but finished neither.

Zelda II. Maybe because it was the fact it was the first Zelda I got to play growing up, or maybe I am just drawn to the fact it is sidescrolling with a syystem of levelling up.

In the Dark World, I like to go get the items and the heart pieces before clearing the dungeons. SO I go 1,2,4,3,5,6,7 with the items, and then play the dungeons in order.

Does anyone else here find Warp Point number 5, as accessed with the flute, to be totally useless? Is there any practical reason to travel to that particular spot on the map?

That's the thing though. Ether won't even light up the room temporarily. It doesn't do it at all. I do like your Cane of Somaria trick though.

The walkthrough for heart piece 23 says "Walk north and you'll see a gap between you and a cracked wall. Or is it? Use the Ether Medallion to see the invisible path." On my VC, the Ether does not work here, or anywhere else, to light up invisible paths.

In Link to the Past, there are certain areas where the path from one side of the room to the other is completely dark. Now I hear that to light it up, one must use the Ether medallion. However, I find that on the VC, this technique does not work, and the path does not light up, leaving Link to...

I almost always need a level four sword.

I don't recall the first name I gave him. Now, he just "Link." First time I played LttP, I named him after a certain monkey with a white beard who frequents a different Nintendo series. Now that was interesting. :lol:

I think that the two hardest points of the game are the very beginning, until you get the blue ring and white sword, and from level 5 and beyond, where the Wizzrobes and Darknuts come out in full force. By and large, it isn't easy, but is certainly doable.

The Master Sword in the game has a red handle. Mases incorrectly calls it a Magical Sword. :D

I had Game Genie growing up, and nowadays, I just use Mases' walkthrough. :D

Malon as a child is so incredibly annyoing that I cannot list her amonst the most attractive women in the series like everyone else does. :mellow:

Beat it a few times lately, so now I'm trying to get all the items and the grinding done first, and then going back and finishing off the palaces. It's a lot more work, but I think it'll ultimately be easier. :D

I've done it the normal way a few times, and it's getting kinda old. I need a new challenge. :P

Whenever I play LoZ, I find it interesting, and utimately much easier, to go around to all the dungeons collecting just the items, and then once i have gotten everything, to then go back and fight the dungeon bosses for the triforce pieces. I've become tempted to do that with AoL as well, but...

When it comes to mising characters, I'd just love to know in AoL where all the women who let Link into their houses to talk to the old man go to?

Level 8 drives me crazy with all the Darknuts....

i think maybe why the OP findsd the game short is the lack of sidequests. That's actully part of why it appeals to me. The simpler the game, the better. Ok, maybe I'm weird. :D

It's not just you. The two enemies I hate most in that game are Wizzrobes and Darknuts.

I don't think any were "easy", but I'd go with the orginal LoZ, because it is the simplest game, where Link just goes from dungeon to dungeon.

My first was AoL. After having replayed a number of others from my chidhood, it just might eek out the title of my personal favourite.

I like Saria, even with the green hair.

This. Also, having to start at the north castle when out of lives in AoL, and of course, Navi. :D Losing the magic shield to a Like Like is annoying too.

How about the anonymous woman in Zelda II who is thirsty, or the one who loses her mirror? :P

It's not unbearable. The hardest parts are death mountain and the valley of death. But regardless, be prepared to run out of lives a few times. First time I got through, I used 31 continues. If you can handle that, you'll be fine.

I'd go with the two for the NES. They are my favourite titles, but the poor graphics kind of spoil things.

From the list, I picked Gooma and Thunderbird, because they were both cool. But Dark Link is right up there with them, even if not in the poll. :D

I just wish everyone who complains about the difficulty would just get over it. It's like you guys complain that a game is too hard if you can't play it from start to finish on one life while blindfolded.

I'm running around grabbing all the dungeon items before attempting any crystals. :D

I basically Fairy my way through that section, and then once you get to the palace, just hit Continue when you run out of lives, and you'll start back at the Great palace again. :)

I dunno about that. I'm still figuring out how the blocks that fall on Link's head in AoL can stay suspended in midair after he cuts through the ones below them. Shouldn't they in turn fall to the ground and hit Link in the head?
