Because you have to beat him to obtain the third triforce piece, the triforce of courage. He is the final test for it... and if you die, Ganon returns (as the Game Over screen so happily illustrates...)

Anyway, onto the riddle:

Pure, gentle, destructive freedom,

In name only; to give shape to that which no one has yet seen.

I think this one's either blindingly easy, or puzzlingly difficult....

Yup, it sure is. And you're right, it's based on that owl statue quote, "THE WIND FISH IN NAME ONLY, FOR IT IS NEITHER"

Definitely sounds like another Deku Butler's son riddle if you ask me...

Either that or I will alter PureLocke's post and say the Deku Princess instead.

Also, I don't think its Skull Kid or Majora's Mask because the riddle states, "against the puppet under the moon".
