My Favourite for a while was Ocarina of Time, but I finally got Twilight Princess a couple weeks ago and that has become my most favourite zelda game ever, its not just my favourite Zelda game but also my favourite video game of all time. I'm a die-hard nintendo fan. I will probably never own an xbox or playstation

Of the modern games (OoT and later), I go for Twilight Princess. If we're talking favorite of all time, I have to go original.

I actually got the original, gold cartridge on my 8th birthday in 1989. I played through that game what must have been a million times over and it never got old. This was before games went cut scene crazy and there were boss fights every few rooms. I'm not claiming there was anything at all superior about the game. The graphics were 8-bit and the music would get stuck in your head and keep you up at night. I was ridiculously excited when the sequel (Adventure of Link) came out but it never quite did it for me the way the original did. I will still play through that game on the GC collectors disc out of nostalgia and forget that Zelda II was ever a thing.

My number 1 fave is Adventure of Link, I don't remember when we got it but when I started playing it I was very wowed. Link was taller, better animated, he could duck, he could jump, he could learn two new sword moves and a bunch of cool spells. The music is great, he controls just fine and I like the sound effects, to this day no game has come close to taking its crown. I frankly don't care if its not the popular choice like Ocarina or ALTTP, its a great game and I stand by that.

My second favorite is Twilight Princess-it started off a little slow but I fell in love with it so quickly and it even took the original Zelda's place as second.

Legend of Zelda is my 3rd favorite, I feel like a little kid again every time I boot it up. Still one of the best games on the NES ever!

Can I just rank them? :D I haven't played them all yet, but I have loved every Zelda game I've played.

1. Skyward Sword

The first Zelda I played and still my favorite. I love everything about this game: the epic story, the focus on characters, the worldbuilding, the colorful landscapes, the endless side quests, etc. What I don't like: fighting the Imprisoned three times.

2. Twilight Princess

This one also has an epic story, great characters, and amazing worldbuilding. Basically I love anything that feels like a fantasy novel. :P What I don't like: the enforced wolf sections (sorry), and sometimes the colors are so dark I can't see a damn thing and get eyestrain.

3. A Link Between Worlds

I haven't finished it yet, but I've done most of the dungeons, so it's a safe bet to say I love it. The only thing it's lacking for me is a bigger focus on story like the preceding two games. Where are the cutscenes? Hilda's short monologues are awesome but don't really count. I want more character development!

4. Link's Awakening

Man, do I ever love the surreal plot, the bittersweet ending, and that mystical owl telling me random things about the island. XD Not to mention the inclusion of so many Mario creatures. I wish I could play the DX version though.

5. BS Zelda Ancient Stone Tablets

Yeah it's not officially in the series, but I can't be the only one to have looked up an emulator and played this game out of curiosity. The enforced speed run is not really my forte but I liked the challenge once I got used to it. It has great replay value.

6. BS Zelda Maps 1 & 2

These count as one game IMO. Basically the original Legend of Zelda with updated graphics. Best of all, you don't have to farm for rupees if you're diligent about destroying everything in your path, and there's nothing as satisfying as killing enemies with the boomerang. Why this hasn't been released as a third and fourth quest to LoZ (and Ancient Stone Tablets released with ALttP) is beyond me.

7. Adventure of Link

This does NOT deserve the hate it gets. It ate my soul for about a week as I persevered to beat this game. It's probably the hardest game I've ever played. Grinding for experience points is a pain, but there's so much hilarious awesome I can't even list it. The ancient Egyptian-esque villagers, the fact that Hylians enslave their rare wizards in basements, seeing Link walk in a sidescroller, Link speaking the first and last random line he'll ever say ("I found a mirror under the table"), Link getting hazed by lizalfos on his way to death mountain...I could go on. XD

8. Legend of Zelda

I like this game a lot, but I would rather fight Thunderbird a hundred times than get cornered by blue darknuts in a dungeon. While it is immensely satisfying to bomb random walls and collect items, and/or get skinned of all your rupees by evil old men, Hyrule is just too barren for me in this game. Also those dungeon rooms where you can't open the door until you defeat all the enemies in a tightly confined space are a pain to get through. Not to mention wizzrobes and losing the use of your sword via bubble in the second quest. >.< I can't even count the number of times Like-likes have eaten my shield.

Im having trouble deciding between Adventure of Link, Link's Awakening and Ocarina I've only beaten Ocarina, Wind Waker and Adventure of Link and played the original, Twilight, beginnings of Skyward and Link to the Past. Adventure of Link was the first one I ever played, when I was about 6-7 years old. I could barely see it on my friends TV but it still enticed me. Ocarina was the first one I bought and I always had been looking forward to it since the N64 was announced, and it didn't disappoint. I got Link's Awakening DX when it came out and I STILL haven't beaten it. I really like it's play on the dream state and the version of the main theme is my favorite.

For me it's Ocarina hands down. The only other Zelda game I own, Majora's Mask, is a close second, but I haven't played it enough to really get into. I still need to use a guide to help me get through the Great Bay Temple, and I've played it through three times so far. *sheepish smile*

Tied between A Link to the Past and The Minish Cap, which is funny, considering they're polar opposites in terms of world open-ness and story involvement.

A Link to the Past yo. :sahasrahla:
That was my first Zelda game and really got me into the series. Ocarina of Time is a very close second.

A Link to the Past with the N64 gems close behind. I think if this poll was redone now that Skyward Sword wouldn't have as many votes as it does. People were just hyped at the inital release but it doesn't deserve to have more votes than any of these games.

I disagree. I think it's simply because Skyward Sword is one of those "love it or hate it" games, with little middle ground. If I recall, there was a "Least Favorite" poll or something along those lines and Skyward Sword was also pretty high up there.
