I agree 100%, as a Christian my self I stopped playing the game after I saw to pray. I hate that they have included this in the Zelda games. My belief is in One God that is to be worshipped Only. For them to input this into their games is very insulting and my best advice is to stop playing. Don’t continue playing with the guilt and conviction.

You speak the truth, brother. Hail Satan.

Think of it this way... Link is praying with/at the statues and not directly to them. The goddess statues are depicted with their hands folded like they're in prayer, after all.

I am a Christian and have played previous Zelda games (however it has been a long time) and I know this game is fiction but why do I need to pray to a statue in order to get containers, or can I buy these containers without having to pray to a piece of rock?

Thank you!
I understand the objection, however, in Zelda games you caste magic, use alchemy, and use magical items and Scripture forbids the use of magic & alchemy in real life (Deuteronomy 18:10-12, Revelation 21:8). However, in most fictions magic is used as means to explain unexplainable powers like The Force in Star Wars.

Also the Triforce is three shards from the Golden Goddesses, Link literally in some games has the power of a goddess inside him, Farore.

I get simulating prayer is a different level because it goes directly against The First and Second Commandments. But in actuality you are not praying to the goddess statue, just like you are not really using magic; would you be ok with such things in a book? Because most fantasy has other gods venerated and prayed to as well as magic, for example Lord of the Rings.

That said St. Paul said, “where there is doubt there is sin,” (Romans 14:23 Paraphrased) and if it pricks your conscious, you need to not do it. I have no idea if you have to do it in the game, or if you can skip it, if you can skip it do so, but I will ask, what of movies where you watch people pray to gods not your own like Gladiator? I get its easier to side step that as a character doing that and this is you pressing the button to pray to the goddess. I just am always intrigued where we saints draw the line on idolatry.

Its a worthy thing to discuss and I get the concern. If ai was facing this in the game I would pause too, but you have to decide if you can wave it away as this is fiction not me actually praying to a made up goddess, or if it digital idolatry and desensitizing you to idolatrous acts.

Lest you think its a sinister Satanic plan, in Japan there is a lot of overlap of beliefs and rituals, Christians will even do Shinto rituals and Tea Ceremonies and etc; so to them this is not a big deal. For The Biblical Literalist Believer that is not possible cause we believe Jesus’ words, “Jesus answered Satan, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.” (Luke 4:8).

But again this is a video game, not you going to an idol and praying to it. And the statue is of made up goddess, not a real one. That said, you have to decide if it violates the Commandments or not for yourself.

"I'm going to give you three rules of advice: One, get over yourself; two, seriously, get over yourself" (-Penelope, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves); and three, just play the goddamn game and enjoy it for what it really is. Don't focus on some stupid detail like a fictional character praying to a fictional Goddess, and a fictional world in a video game. The game is about overcoming adversity over impossible odds, not about dissing Christianity or any other religion. If you're really upset over this, you shouldn't really be exposing yourself to fiction. Almost every single fictional world has their own religions and belief. Even the real world has multiple religions and beliefs, I honestly don't see what the big deal is. Unless you are dissing other religions in real life. If you are, shame on you. But I'd rather think you're not. Seriously, there's a lot more to the game than some make-belief religion, and if you can't see that in the series, I don't know what to tell you, except remember rules 1 and 2, you'll get further in life doing that. As Iroh once said "Pride is not the antidote to Shame, but it's source, Humility is the only true antidote to Shame." Avatar: The Last Airbender
