Gonna need you to expand on this because I didn't...? I questioned KJ about his role after ambers death but never spoke on his reaction.
Mafia networkers are pretty common. I wouldn't say it's specifically scum utility but it's definitely not town indicative utility either.

The rocks aren't adding up.
It makes perfect sense. The thing mimics and blends but does whatever it takes to sustain it's life. So the thing is motivated to end the game as quickly as possible or get rid of macready. It does not want the game to come down to a three player standoff with OG though, no matter it's alignment. If mafia has it they are probably still flagged threat. If secondary town has it in that same scenario then they are essentially a threat because they'll stab OG in the face to ensure it doesn't come down to the two of them.
I dunno, putting words in dead people's mouths seems like decent utility, albeit minimally game impacting since everybody will take it with a grain of salt.
It doesn't because the survivor wincon should kick in first.
There shouldn't be a Thing + OG scenario where the Thing doesn't win with OG.

To expand on that, we know that there can be a situation strictly because OG's role directly implies it.

the only things i would disagree with is this.
& i wasn't trying to say that you got it from someone other than killjoy. my point was that getting it from him would have relied on pretty low random chance, wheras not getting it from him and just lying wouldn't.
the other things you said in that post make sense to me at first glance.
but, i still doubt rag would have put a role like that in the game. and my point still stands about your defense relying only on things scum and you had just done, all of which you would have known you could use to defend yourself beforehand. kj's hammer and statement, your thing claim, and the rubik 'kill'.
im going to bed so ill think about it more tomorrow.

He could've figured it out, but I think it wouldn't be as likely.
I have over 150 games under my belt and unorthodox strategizing is one of my strong points; killjoy probably has less than a dozen games of experience and seems to be more instinct driven.

Yeah actually. It gives you chance to get info out of thread that scum could use. And you can try to make people trust you in a 1 on 1 chat easier than in thread. But I also dunno if that's really all your abilities do. The fact that you "turn" people makes it sound like there could be more. Tbh, I originally thought you might be a cult.
Ah, I got mixed up somehow. It was Lain that said that. I've been thinking it was you this whole time. Which does change things a bit and I dunno if I would lean you as being final scum now.
How have you played so many games with me and still don't remember that my philosophy for mafia is that the optimal way to win it is by trusting rather than being paranoid.
Again, I have no way to prove I'm town other than asking for y'alls trust.
If the argument is that I'm scum telling the truth about the Thing, it inherently implies the existence of another scum preventing the game from ending. If my slot is leading to a time sinker dead end people can always discuss who the other one preventing the game from ending might be.
ngl I was hoping for it when I saw the role but it seems to only be flavors
