I'm trying to branch out what I play but more importantly WHO I play as. So I wanted to know, what games are there with good-to-great female playable characters? I constantly play male in games..
Tomb Raider. Metroid. Mirror's Edge. Mass Effect, and any other game where you can create a female character. Bayonetta. Final Fantasy X-2, and most Final Fantasy games have females. Portal. Some of the Resident Evils. Silent Hill 3. Ms. Pac Man. In 90% of JRPGs if you squint they all look like women. Okami, if your interest in females stretches that far. Perfect Dark. And Raiden from Metal Gear Solid 2.
Those are some off the top of my head. Could think of more if the entire industry wasn't SEXIST.
You could always try out Heavenly Sword. I couldnt tell you what happen to the game, but i do know that it was considered pretty good back when the PS3 first came out!
I can also stand by the new Tomb Raider, that game was a lot of fun!
Also, I just thought of this series. There's a game franchise called Puyo Puyo (it's a puzzle game, by the way (if you're a fan of puzzlers, that is)) that has female protagonists in it. And of course there's Madou Monogatari (which is where Puyo Puyo spun off from).
The Metroid series gets my vote for the franchise with the best female protagonist. Yes, Samus doesn't talk much, but that's because she's too busy kicking alien *****. (I'm leaving out that atrocity Other M, obviously.)
Other games with female protagonists I liked: Final Fantasy VI, Okami, the Pokemon games (I'm mostly referring to Black 2 here, but the other female leads are really good as well), Shantae, Portal, Beyond Good & Evil.
