Club Nintendo is a website for people who buy Nintendo games, obviously. In each Nintendo game or Nintendo system that you buy, there is a code on a slip of paper that you punch in to your account to register this software/hardware. You complete a survey on the registered product to earn a certain number of 'coins' in North America and 'stars' in Europe. Once you amass enough of this virtual currency, you can get gifts for yourself which will be mailed to your door! The gifts are actually pretty nice, like cases, a simple game, folding fans, playing cards, etc, etc.
If throughout the "Club Nintendo Year" you get 300 coins, you earn Gold Status, and at the end of the "year" you get a free gift, no coins needing to be spent. If you get 600 coins, and you Platinum Status, and the same thing happens except the gift is generally more valuable. Some of the gifts from previous years were a Mario Hat, Mario and friends figurine, Doc Louis's Punch-Out!!, and calendars.
So, what do you hope the Elite Status rewards will be like this year?
My one hope is that for Gold, it's the usual calendar, but for Platinum, you get a The Legend of Zelda: SKyward Sword Demo Disc. Who doesn't want that?
