Anyone still playing this? I recently picked it back up. It had been a few months since I played it, and my hope was that a bit of time away from it would rekindle my interest in the game.

I'm happy to say that it worked. As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder. I finished Chapter 11, though I feel I was a bit over-levelled at the time. I'm getting ready to start working on some affinity missions with some of the lesser-used characters, so I need to get their affinity up. Aside from my main squad, most of them are still at 1 or 2 heart affinity.

I still playing and enjoying the game very much. Although I'm taking a break from story line and doing some grinding to boost my team some more. I'm going to Chapter 10 and I have heard that the boss is kinda hard, so I'm little afraid.
I'm at level 60 with level 50 Skell packed with Phoenix and G-Buster, but still I'm too afraid to go to next chapter. Instead I, too, have been doing some affinity missions and money grinding, since I'm thinking of buying some Skells to my team members. I just don't know what model to buy. I myself have level 50 Lailah.

I took a break right away I beat the main quest, but not because I was tired of it. I still had MGSV on the docket to finish, as well as the new Fire Emblem launching and pretty much monopolizing my gaming life for two months along with TPHD.

I think at some point I'll go back and truly dive into what the game has to offer beyond the main quest, because I barely scratched the surface. I still experienced some incredible moments, and I'd love to go through some more.

Anyways, now that I've had time to think about it, here are my favorite parts/elements of the world we got from X (almost exclusively from what I just stumbled upon myself):

The Tainted:

I really wish we got more of these guys beyond like chapter 3, along with some more explanation as to what caused them to be. I get that the Vita seemed to be corrupting everything around it, but why is the so-called "virus" only able to survive in Noctilum? Is it actually contagious to all life-forms, or is it contained to just the area around the Vita and the initial life-forms corrupted by it? I also found it fascinating that the Telethia seemed to see it as a number one threat on Mira, hence its sole intervention in the main plot.

Floating Islands in Oblivia:

The scenic view I got from these was among the most visually incredibly I've ever witnessed in a video game. I actually didn't discover these were even a thing until way after I got the flight module I decided to finally try to get some Oblivia mining probes discovered. Just the design of the island itself was incredible, with waterfalls and ponds at the very top, the whole nine yards. It was just so cool to discover and look down from.

Zu Pharg Battle:

The sense of scale and how massive this thing is doesn't make much sense narrative-wise (why the hell wasn't this thing used against us earlier?), but I love how this just goes over the top boss-size-wise without breaking the battle and making it nearly impossible to fight.

The Divine Roost:

The was the most amazing part of the game for me. I had wanted to go to the north-most part of Noctilum ever sense I first went to the area and explored as far as I could; the natural barrier of that massive waterfall really made me think something special was up there. However, I was expecting it to be a natural continuation of Noctilum, you know, like the rest of the continent with similar monsters and the like. Finally getting up there with the flight module and discovering how it was a completely different world was astounding. Weird, passive species, creepy music, strange landscape, all of it took me by complete surprise. It felt like this place existed entirely separate from the main world, and I loved that.

Telethia the Endbringer:

Why is there a Telethia in this world, and why is it the guardian of this entire place? It seems to be pro-lifeform as it takes down the Tainted, but is it truly watching out for others, or just proactively taking down things it thinks can eventually threaten it? With the context of what the Telethia were in the last game, this is one of X's greatest mysteries for me. Also, stumbling upon it accidentally must have been terrifying for some people (I didn't even think to fly above the Divine Roost, unfortunately).

The Ending:

Not going to spoil anything, but I'm STILL thinking about what this ending means. I would really like some official closure at some point, because it's honestly bothering the hell out of me. But maybe that's what they were going for?

Oh, at Level 60 you should have no problem with Chapter 10. I beat it and I was at a much lower level than that. I think I was in the high 40s. It takes a while, but it isn't an impossible battle by any means. The trick for me was to use Soul Shouts or whatever they're called intelligently. Sometimes you can get away with just everyone doing their own thing, but for this battle, I had everyone concentrate on the same target(s), and I used Soul Shouts whenever available.

I haven't finished the main quest, but I agree with everything you said here, as far as I've experienced. The Divine Roost was an incredible experience for me. I haven't fully explored it, as I was very low-levelled when I ventured in there the first time, so I was quickly outmatched by almost everything in there.

Divine Roost is the best place to quickly level up your party (with a level 50 Skell).

I'm spending my second playthrough trying to come up with the ultimate build.

With 32 pages worth of thread, this has likely already come up but I'll be damned if I'm gonna read 32 pages of thread.

Is it just me or is the music easily the weakest part of this game? It does two things that irk me. First, there are so many musical themes that would have been leagues better if left without lyrics and had their focus be instrumental. Second, the music tends to blare loudly during key cutscenes, undermining the impact and drowning out what people are actually saying.

Is anyone else bothered by this?

I'm one of the few people that are 100% with you.

(1) The music sucks. NLA's theme sucks. Especially the night theme. The battle themes suck. The overworld music is great, though, in my opinion. It's what the entire game should have been. I know they were going for a more "edgy" musical theme, but it came out extremely cheesy and, to be honest, crappy. The music is just plain garbage.

(2) There are no sound volume options, which, for a game that released in 2015, is unacceptable. Yes, the music drowns out the voice acting. Especially during cut scenes. It's like adding insult to injury. Not only is the music absolute rubbish, but you are forced to listen to it at such high levels that you can't hear the voice overs.

Not particularly. I enjoy it whenever composers go a step ahead and integrate lyrics into the background music (i.e.Final Fantasy XIII-2). However, there are a handful of songs that grew exceedingly old as they repeated ad nauseum. Of course those are the NLA themes and Tatsu's theme. Others that come close are Don't Worry, Uncontrollable, and Black Tar because of how often they play, but I still enjoy them. Cutscene music is something I do take issue with here. It would have been an easy fix to adjust the volume so that the voices were louder and the BGM was toned down. By My Side is an appealing piece, but I didn't like it blaring over the voice acting.

The music is just plain garbage.
I disagree. It fit the whole exploration vibe of a foreign planet to a T. Black Tar is extremely hated for the Nu-metal stylization and arguably bad lyrics (they had to be modernized with development), but it still emphasized the game's theme of survival. NLA is a ritzy, "jive" town modeled after the titular city. How Sawano incorporated the music in some areas is offsetting, yet he knew how to handle the groundwork. No other composer would have nailed it as ambitiously as he did, really (well, maybe Go Shiina).

I got 100% completion rate for this game.
I only got around 85%
I'm extremely happy with what I did. It was quite an amazing game and I so got my money's worth.

But, I deleted my save file to start fresh, and I am still really happy with the game.

I kind of like not having Skells too. Don't get me wrong, I think Skells are amazing. But there is still a lot of magic in exploring on foot. Being forced to not have the option in the start of the game made me not have Skells, and I had a ton of fun. So I am very happy I restarted.

My first playthrough was dedicated to finishing the plot.

On my second playthrough, I'm working on an Infinite Overdrive build for my Cross. What this means is farming enough materials to craft the highest augments possible and filling out slots out all pieces of armor and weapons, maxing out my arts' stats, etc. The result is a Longsword/Assault Rifle Duelist that can topple enemies and quickly gain TP by attacking them, then activating Overdrive to finish them off quickly. By combining the right augments, arts, and skills, it's possible to take on level 70 (or higher) Tyrants and Superbosses without the use of Skells. If anyone needs any help with this feel free to let me know. But take note: it's going to take a lot of time on the side.

And for my third playthrough...well, that won't happen for some time. Got too many other open-world games to finish. =P

Definitely worth the money, though.
