Beat Elden Ring, just in time for Granblue Fantasy Relink to come out next week. Decided to get the Ranni ending.

Overall, it's a fun game. I think the story is pretty weak and boring though, and incredibly frustrating with the way you can miss sidequests just by wandering too far, so it basically punishes you for treating the open world as an open world instead of a linear world. I liked some of the dungeons and it was fun to coop with friends, but only Ranni's storyline was compelling to me. Most of it felt like fake-deep shock value torture porn. Good thing I value gameplay more than story.

Some folks say they wish Zelda was more like Elden Ring. I would rather it not be. The only real similarity between Botw/Totk and ER is a lot of environmental storytelling (which zelda did better imo) and the fact that the world is open and you can do stuff out of order (except you miss out on sidequests if you treat it as such so not really. completionist nightmare.) I don't really want Zelda to have fromsoft gameplay mechanics.

I'll keep playing more because I do like playing it and there's stuff I still wanna do. But yeah. Plenty of stuff I was unsatisfied with. Game's got nothing on TotK or even BotW. Way overhyped.

I got to the 2nd half part of FE and that was enough RPG for the moment, so I went back and beat Umbrella Chronicles for Wii. I can't say it matches my happy memories of Virtua Cop 2 as far as Light gun games go, but it still did pretty good and way above what the critics gave it like an 8.6 out of 10 IMO.

Still not really interested in RPGing that much so trying to finish Spirit Tracks, was on Cragma and now he's done so it's just one more world I guess.

My sis got me to start Golden Sun on NSO a couple days ago, and I ended up playing through the whole start of the game up til they leave the village. She wasn't kidding, it's really good, hah. Hopefully when I have more time I can play more of it.

It's real fun to play games while my sis is there 'cause she likes to voice act the characters and we both like to joke around so we end up laughing half the time hahah, improves the game experience 1000x

Mega Man xDive on mobile. It's... alright. Not the BEST gacha I've played (it does have an offline version but that mf is 30 dollars)

Also Bug Fables and Pokemon Colosseum still. Should be done with both of these soon.

Then I'm going to flip a coin. Heads, I play Bravely Default 2. Tails, I play the Hikikomori Route in Omori.

Back when I was like 9 I really wanted a DS and New Super Mario Bros 2 because the coin thing looked really cool (I obviously did not know the 3DS was a thing) and the other day I realized I'm an adult now with money and a 3DS so I purchased it and have been playing it. It's obviously not a masterpiece or anything, but 2D Mario games are where I began as a gamer so it's a comfy little game.

Well I finished Spirit Tracks.

Um, wow, so many problems, that if someone gave it a 7 of 10 I wouldn't argue with them, but for me, objectively, every problem was slight in compared to the grand overarching whole, which worked, and it still retained the magic of Zelda ultimately, so it's a 9/10, but that's the lowest a Zelda gets from me. I guess Tri Force Heroes or Phantom Hourglass will be the only other possible sub 9 Zelda games for me.

Longer points on ST are
The whole game was kind of promising with the companion gaming with Zelda being very fun and cool to play with, and the puzzles manageable. The train was manageable, everything was manageable. Then it just feels like everything is wonky and off, too many swift puzzles, confusing puzzles, annoying long train escorts, confusing places to go, need the hearts but the sub quests require more than you possibly would need to finish the original thing you are stuck on without the hearts. One INCREDIBLY absurd final boss.

And those songs, wow, I thought the whole game should possibly be lower because of those songs. I don't know what magic made it work, but reading YT comments from so many people who never finished the game because of the pan flute songs fails Nintendo's own standard where people not finishing the game is considered a failure.

On the positive side, this was my first full blown experience with the WW art style, not having played WW or Phantom Hourglass yet, and honestly, celda never seemed like it was really a problem to me. In fact, it was pretty cool. I'm more concerned about the game behind it and SS had some issues.

Now playing Tales of Symphonia on gamecube because it's RPG time and I want something more classic. I had the PS3 version on a fat PS3 that died, so I want to just play the gamecube version because I like memory cards and apparently it's the only 60 FPS version or something.

I started Super Mario Bros Wonder on Saturday and finished it last night - though I have not got 100% on every course yet.

I haven't really played 2D Mario much since New Super Mario Bros Wii but this game was such a pleasure to jump back into the series with. It feels like a worthy modern successor to Super Mario World on the SNES which was my first ever game and still one of my favourites. It genuinely made me want to pick it up as soon as I could all week - I haven't been so motivated to play all the way through a game so quickly in quite a while. Absolutely recommend trying this one out, I felt the wonder.

I'm playing Potion Permit and its great! Its like Stardew Valley but instead of a farmer you're a chemist that runs a hospital, and there's zero stress for obtaining time-sensitive events.

Same, currently on World 4 and it definitely feels like a proper successor to Super Mario World. Even if it overstayed its welcome and became a generic formula to pump out money, I enjoyed the New series for everything that it brought to the table that clearly paved the way for Wonder, but it was also mostly just a throwback series with a modern lense. Wonder on the other hand feels like a completely new and evolved take on 2D Mario with a unique identity that compliments the direction games like Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World took the series.

With that being said, I can't help but feel like the Mario Maker games and its community were instrumental to Wonder's level design. A lot of the stages and ideas feel like things I've played, seen, or created in Mario Maker, which isn't a knock, but an interesting observation that I feel is becoming a bit of a trend with Nintendo. Tears of the Kingdom for example felt like a response to all the crazy and creative stuff people were doing in Breath of the Wild and with creation playing such a huge part in TotK, I can't help but wonder how the community's creations might manifest in the next Zelda game.

Currently playing through The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, I'm onto the second part and honestly really enjoying myself, also Sholmes is probably my favourite character from any game I've ever played.
