I'm watching the movie "Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe" on the "123movies" website (they have a lot of good movies and TV series there, I can even watch my favorite TV shows "Buffy the vampire slayer" and "Angel" on there from time to time, also I watch the three Halloween Buffy episodes and the "Coraline" movie on that website on Halloween night), the movie "Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe" was only on Netflix before, but not everyone can afford/can pay to watch (a lot of people are low-income), so thank God it's available on "123movies" now so we can watch it for free, if it was on TV I would watch it on TV because it doesn't cost anything to watch it on television, but it's not on television, so I'm glad it's on the "123movies" website now so I can watch it for free (and before some idiots start screaming that it's "piracy", it's really NOT, anyone who thinks it's "piracy" doesn't know the definition of "piracy" or what actual "piracy" is, the people who make those movies and TV series available to watch FOR FREE on the website are NOT making ANY money off of someone else's work and the people who watch those movies FOR FREE on the website are NOT making ANY money off of someone else's work, therefore it's NOT "piracy" any more than borrowing DVDs from public libraries and watching them for free or turning the TV on and watching something for free on television and A LOT CONTENT WAS MADE AVAILABLE TO WATCH FO FREE during the very long lockdown/confinement during the pandemic and NO ONE made ANY money off of making that content available to watch FOR FREE and/or watching that content FOR FREE).
About the movie, it's based on a bestselling written work, I enjoyed reading the books that the movie is based on, there are two books (but sadly for now, there's only one movie, here's hoping they're gonna make the sequel into a movie), it's a duology written by Benjamin Alire Saenz. Volume one is entitled "Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe" and volume 2 is entitled "Aristotle and Dante dive into the waters of the world". It's a beautiful male/male LGBT romance between two young men who fell in love with each other when they were fifteen and they learn important lessons about life, love, and what truly matters in life and they enter adulthood together and they have to survive and thrive in a world where some people hate, bully and even kill people for being different, they experience homophobia and violence, but their love gets them through the dark times and their parents love them and support them so they're not alone and they have each other and their parents are friends too.
Aristote Mendoza and Dante Quintana, two American teenagers of Mexican descent explore the friendship and the love they have for each other while struggling with things like ethnic and racial identity, sexuality, and familial relationships in El Paso, in Texas, in 1987. Ari and Dante envy straight couples who can kiss and hold hands in public and even marry the people they love while those same rights are denied to same-sex couples (I don't think same-sex marriage was legal in the USA in the late 1980s - early 1990s) and they dream of the day when they won't have to hide their relationship from anyone other than their parents for fear of being attacked and abused by intolerant people.
I enjoyed reading the books, there are so many beautiful life lessons to be learned about life, love and what truly matters in life in those books, and a lot to learn about culture, art, philosophy, minorities, etc, there's even references to Oscar Wilde and other known writers because the two main protagonists and their parents love books and reading.
Here's the beautiful official trailer:
The actor is telling it like it is, the best part of the books and the movie is the parents' acceptance, love and support for their LGBT kids:
