Thanks! I thought what I had written before was way to short, and blatant. This way, I can introduce the Genesis instead of later. And I also like the new method I decided to go with it.
I mean, I tried. Believe me, tried to resist of waiting at least a month, but I can't!

And now we have the next part! Enjoy!

The empty bus drove on to what seemed like a vast plain, completely void of life. Alexander Norcross stared out his window, watching the stalks of tall grass fly by, listening to the pings they made as the brushed against the bus. He had no idea where the driver was taking him, all he knew was that it was the farthest destination the station had buses travel.

“What state are we in again, sir?” Alex called up to tired driver.

“Welcome to the good ol’ state of Maine!”

Maine…that was the farthest he could get without leaving the country. And that was his limit. Getting so close to the end, Alex couldn’t help but think of what he had left behind: his loving family and friends, his low-pay job, and Seth, his best friend. Ironically, his “best friend” was the reason he was even in this situation. If Seth had just been paying attention that night, then maybe he wouldn’t be in prison.

Don’t do that, Alex thought. That was your fault. Not Seth’s, nobody caused this but you.

He knew it, and so did everyone else. Alex saw how they looked at him; they knew it was his idea to go out for drinks that night. And now Seth was behind bars and the girl he loved was dead. Alex felt his eyes begin to water, and quickly wiped the up with the sleeve of his dark green jacket.

Caught up in his thoughts, he didn’t realize that the bus stopped and that the driver was calling for him.
“Kid! Eh, kid! Last stop!”

“Sorry, sir.” He said, grabbing his bag. On the way out, he turned around and gave the driver 20 dollars. “And thank you.”

“Don’t mention it. You’re the one going to hell.” The driver laughed, even causing Alex to silently chuckle. It wasn’t until the man drove off did Alex fully understand what he meant.

The cold was fierce, and the autumn wind sent an icy chill through his body. Throwing his hood up, he looked around. He was in the middle of nowhere. There was the stop, but it was definitely one way, and it sat next to the green sign, labeled Laten.

Alex could see the distant and vague shapes of a town a couple miles off, the road going down a slope.

And, now to walk. Alex took his first step towards his new life. He would never again be the Alex Axtee he was before, and become Norcross. A better and new man.

The walk seemed endless and the cold didn’t help. By the time he was finally close to the town, the sun had set and the stars were showing through. Laten was much smaller than he had previously expected. The place probably housed no more than 200 people.

Small is good. Laten is good. The streets were empty of cars, and the sidewalks only had a few passing groups of young adults no older than Alex, all going same direction. He was unsure whether it would be a party or the bar, but he desperately hoped they were going to the latter.

Alex was relieved to see he thought true, and the place was actually a bar. He looked up at the illuminated sign and read the name given to the building, The Fallen. He opened the double doors, and noticed the place was void of any windows. It was completely lit up by electrical lighting, which was surprisingly bright.

At least I know it isn’t a place for drunk parties, Alex though, regarding the lighting.

Everyone in The Fallen ignored him, but he knew they stared and talked when he wasn't looking. They were too nonchalant when he looked back to them. He eagerly wanted a drink, and took a place on an empty bar stool.

“Get me a beer.” Alex raised a hand towards the bartender, who was wiping down the counter. The man just continued on, not even responding. “Sir? A beer?” He wiped the area right in front of Alex and continued on down the counter.

“Well, hello, handsome.” He heard a feminine voice say from behind him.
“Look, I am not loo...” he paused when he looked at the source of the voice. She was a beautiful woman; her chest nut hair flowed down her olive skin. She was wore a short dress of red, a very fine shade at that. She was elegant, but still fun.

“What’s the matter, stranger? Never spoken to a girl before?” She smiled at him.

“Sorry…and you are?”

“Ebony, Ebony White. Now, handsome. What should I call you?”

“My name is Alex…Alex Norcross,” he added awkwardly, since she had used her full name as well.
“Well, Alex, what brings you to a place like this?” Ebony asked him, very flirtatious.

“I wanted a drink.”

“Oh, y’know what I mean! Laten, what brings you here?”

“This was where I wanted to go.”

“Ooh, a mysterious fella. That type is so high school, but I don’t know. You work it, stranger. Where did you move into?”

“Uh, nowhere just yet. I was hoping to find an inn or motel.”

“You won’t find one of those miles of this place. I suggest you find a nice gal and stay with her for the night.”
Alex stared at her, unable to not admire her wit and confidence. “I am not looking for a relationship.”

Ebony smiled. “Ah, a broken heart. Nevertheless, I am just trying to be a good neighbor. I got an empty room. Just until you get on your feet.”
“Uh…I guess. Just for tonight, though.”

“Great. Drakion, give our friend here a drink.” Silently, Drakion the bartender slammed a bottle in front of Alex. “Now, come with me, stranger.”

Alex followed Ebony as she strutted out of the bar. As they left, Alex heard a sound from above on the low roof. His eyes darted upwards to see a small black figure. It fell backwards when he saw it, and stumbled from the ceiling, and ran off. Alex went to follow it, before Ebony grabbed his arm.
“My place is this way, Alex.”

“I…I saw someone fall.”

“It was probably nothing.” But Alex could tell she knew it was.

Yeah, Gobli. I said before that I was redoing it, just cause I couldn't stand the way I wrote it before. The prologue was redone as well, if you didn't read it.

And I edited it so Drakion is now the bartender.

Oh I missed all that. But I went back to the other page and found out that you did indeed rewrite it. I like the new prologue, btw, and Vipee already mentioned pretty much what I had in mind saying. I like how that book dropped on Nathan's head, though. lol and the explanation of the Genesis.

Good news, Rainy. I have decided to give Hanna a bit more importance than some of the others. (i.e. love interest)

And now we have Chap. 2.

One night turned into 3 days and counting. Ebony's home appeared the largest of any in the rest of town. A three story building, the entrance and hall took up all three with its high ceilings. From in there, you could see the other two floors overlooking the grand hall. A very fine and wealthy home, fine enough to be considered a manor. It was just slightly smaller than one though.

On his second day there, Ebony showed him around town. Everywhere he went, he felt himself being watched. The sounds of a scuff and steps always proved his paranoia true. Alex hadn’t asked Ebony after the first night, because he knew she would never tell him the truth.

His room was similar to Ebony’s, only very much similar. He often wondered who had slept there before he did. On that third day, he decided he would ask her.
“That bed was where my late husband and I used to spend many a night. After I left our original home, I had it moved here, as a tribute to him.” Ebony replied solemnly, her eyes close to tears. “So sorry, I just need to be alone for a moment.” She rushed off to her room, not letting herself cry in front of Alex.

Feeling sorry that he brought it up, Alex wanted to save her the humiliation and went out. He walked the streets of Laten, making himself more familiar with the town. After a few minutes of walking, he was momentarily blinded by a flash. When he could see again, he saw someone running behind a building.

Alex ran after them, Ebony not here this time to stop him. The shadows made the back alleys hard to make out the runner. The stalker ran back to the street, allowing Alex to see the person’s back. Alex was surprised to see a fair haired young boy, perhaps 9 or 10. The child clutched a notebook, and a camera was swinging violently around his neck. The kid was fast, but Alex was not going to lose him. He was lead away from the town, and into thick woods.

The boy whistled at one point. He quickly disappeared and Drakion came out of the woods, accompanied by a teenage girl. He realized the bartender had sword sheathed at his waist.

“Alex…” Drakion, turned around and kneeled down, where the boy had been hiding behind him. They whispered a few words and Alex was pretty sure he heard them say the word unconfirmed. Drakion let out a sigh and kneeled back down. “Turn around and go back to town. Forget this ever happened.”

“Drake, are you sure that is smart. What if he is…” she glanced at Alex, “you know.”

“Maria! I know what I am doing.” He smiled at her.

“Wha-what!? What are you talking about?” Alex asked, slightly annoyed.

“We are talking about nothing. Just go back to town, and I will get you a drink later, on the house.”

Alex advanced forward. “No. That kid has been watching me for days now. I want to know why.”

The fair haired boy spoke up, “Don’t think yourself special. I watch everybody.”

Drake shushed him. “Go back to Adrian, alright,” he said warmly, “and tell him that everything is alright.” The kid ran off, and Alex took another step. “Alex, don’t take another step. I am warning you.”

“Warning me? I am just trying to find information, mainly on why he was following me,” Alex motioned towards where the kid ran to, stepping yet again. Before he knew it, Maria was on him, hitting him around his side. Before he could react, his arm was stiff and he could barely move it.

“Sorry,” she said to him, much more sincerely than he would of thought. “We did warn you.”

“Now, Alex, go back to the town.” Drake repeated, once more.

Alex winced in pain. “Not until I get answers.” Drake nodded, and Maria sighed. She went at him again, but now prepared, threw his leg up to kick her down. He felt bad about it, but she did incapacitate his arm. Drakion charged at him, swinging for his head. Alex tried a sweep his leg, but his attacker jumped higher than Alex imagined possible. Drake’s slammed his leg into Alex’s head, disorienting him momentarily. Drake charged again, but this time, Alex reached for Drakion’s sword and pulled it out with his capable arm.

“Stay back!” he yelled. Drakion looked up into the tree above him and nodded.

“Do it, Hanna.” he said calmly.

Alex turned to see a sneaker slam into his face, and the next thing he knew was blacking out into darkness.

I got no feedback from the last one, so make sure you read Chapter 2 before reading the next one. Not mad or upset, just want to make sure you don't skip it.

Alex awoke inside of a cell. His head was pulsing in pain, and he still found his world spinning. There was nobody else inside of the cell, besides him, and he felt oddly alone. Not just physically, but in his life as well. He didn't feel like he could make it in this town, it wasn't a place for him. He was hated, watched by some kid and a bartender. Then Alex started to remember what happened and was actually wondering what he was doing in a cell.

He heard the voice of a child and a grown man talking. Alex immediately thought it was Drakion and the kid, but when he looked out the bars, there was a window, and he could see the streets of Laten. The grown man was a policeman, Alex guessed a sheriff. The officer was a big bellied man, his hair and stubble a light red. But the blonde kid was the one talking to him.

“I am telling the truth, Mr. Matthews. I was playing in the woods and this guy came up behind me. He was threatening me with a knife, so I hit him with a stick!”

“Sorry, Thomas, but you can’t expect me to believe a kid your size could take out a grown adult. Besides, I searched the woods where you were supposedly playing and there was no knife. And he had no weapon on him either. You’re lucky you’re not getting arrested for lying to the police.”
“But, I am telling the truth. Please…don’t let him out. At least make him leave town!”

“I can’t do that, Thomas. Besides, this isn’t the first time you have done this. Nobody has forgotten the ‘monsters gathering’ incident. How long ago was that? 3 years?”

Thomas’ face turned a deep shade of red. “It was four and a half.” He said solemnly. “But I was being stupid then. How was I to know it was just a book club meeting? Nobody goes outside of town for a book club meeting.”

“It was a picnic! And they were all elderly and middle aged women!” Officer Matthews looked over to the cell, and saw Alex holding on to the bars. “And good morning, sleeping beauty. Sorry about the inconvenience. We just need you to answer a few questions and then you can go.” Matthews unlocked the cage.
“Fine,” Alex said, nodding.

Thomas turned to leave before the Matthews ordered him to stay. “You got to stay too.”
With a glare, Thomas sat down in a chair in front of a desk, and Alex followed behind. Matthews grunted as he leaned back into his chair, and put his hands on a keyboard.

“Now, I need a name.”

“Alex Norcross.”

The officer quickly typed into the computer, and found nothing. “Son, there is no record of an Alex Norcross. Is that your real name?”
Alex tapped his finger, knowing what would be found. “Axtee. Alex Axtee.”

Again, Matthews put it into the computer, and a window showing a picture of Alex and his records popped up. The mug shot that was used was a terrible representation of what Alex was like. His dark hair was sticking out in multiple directions and he was smiling stupidly, as though he was having a great time. His face was covered in dirt, and Alex knew what night it was from.

The night that Vickie came over, and he saw they were out of any sort of alcohol. She kept telling him they were fine, but he insisted he would get some more at the gas station just down the road. Being Alex Axtee, he walked down there to try and sneak some. The cashier saw him though, and when Alex ran out, he was chased by the armed cashier. Outside, he turned and kicked the firearm from his hands, and continued to give the man a beating. He kicked the man continuously, drinking the wine and laughing all the while. He hated himself for it.

“Woah boy! You sure got a record.” Matthews looked at Alex again, but now judgmentally. “Did you threaten the kid?”

“No!” Alex protested. “This kid has been…” Before Alex could get another word in, a young girl, probably not much younger walked in cheerfully. Her braided ponytail was swaying with her steps.

“Hello, Matthews. I heard that my brother was here.” She looked at Thomas. “Just what did you do this time? I hope he wasn’t too much trouble for you, Officer,” she grinned.

“He is just being a pain, but not a trouble. Just keep him out of trouble, Christine.”

“I will try. Can I take him back home? Or do you need more from him?”

“No, it is fine. You can take him. You’re free to go as well, Alex.”

Relieved, Alex stood up and walked out of the building, following Thomas and Christine; her smile was bright and cheerful. Once outside, Alex intended to go find Ebony and demand answers.

“Get back here, Alex. Come with me.” Christine said before he got the chance. Her smile was wiped from her face, and her expression was as hard as stone.

“Uh…no thanks.”

“That wasn’t a question. Now come.” Alex didn’t know when the kid ran off, but Thomas was no longer around. Alex followed her unsure of what would happen.

“Where are you going to take me to? Because, Christine—“

“Hanna. Not Christine.” The events flooded into his mind again. Hanna was the one who kicked him.

“Wait…what!? You knock me out and expect me to follow you?”

“Come on, Axtee. You can go by your own feet or the same way you got to the cell.”

Alex cringed as he heard her say his real name. And he much rather preferred to walk. He much rather preferred a chance to question Hanna. “Fine, but no more lies.”

“You aren’t the ones making the rules here.” Hanna said harshly.

“Then just tell me why you had Thomas…”

“Nathan,” she interrupted, leading him to the woods.

“Why did you have Nathan following me around?” He asked irritated.

“We didn’t have him do anything. Everything he does is by his own choice. He watches the town. Recently, you have been the focus of his attention. We all were once.”

“Who is ‘we’?”

“You met most of us already. We are the Fallen Blades. Nathan was the first, Drakion joined his cause and over time we grew, offering the choice to join to every Confirmed.”

“A confirmed what?”

“Human,” Hanna said, far too casually.

“Then why was the kid trying to get rid of me still? That does not sound 'confirmed' to me?”

“Nathan is upset that he didn’t figure you were human. Maria claimed she has never been able to incapacitate a demon.”

“A what?”

They came out to an opening, and Alex could smell the salty sea air. In the middle of a grassy field was a shack. Hanna shoved it open and lifted a secret door, a ladder descending into darkness. “You can talk to either Nathan or Drake about it. I suggest Nathan, ‘cause Drake still doesn’t trust you.” She motioned towards the hole. “After you.”

Nice job. I find it to be an interesting idea, a town full of demons...a lot of paths, you can take with that. I'll be interested to see which one you choose. ;) Oh, and, that little bit with Thomas/Nathan was hysterical.

Thanks! I was writing it, and thought "I am pretty sure this is slightly contradicting to Nathan's character. Oh, who cares it is hilarious!"

Enjoy!

The ladder descent wasn’t as far as the shadows made it appear. Perhaps twenty or thirty feet below the surface. Alex dropped from the ladder and tried to examine their surroundings. His eyes adjusted, making it possible for Alex to figure the cavernous walls that surrounded them. He squinted to see any tunnels, but it was too dark.

Hanna lit a lamp that Alex hadn’t noticed she had on her. It illuminated the secret room revealing it was nothing more than a hole in the earth.
“Now what?” he asked her.

Without responding, Hanna looked down at the rocky floor of the cave and then ran over to a large rock.

“Do you need help with that?” Alex asked her again, because he didn’t think Hanna had any chance of lifting it. But to his dismay and embarrassment, she hefted up the rock and laid it down. In place of where the rock was against the wall, there was now a hole big enough for a person to crawl through. It would be a tight crawl, but it was possible.

Hanna went through taking the lamp with her, leaving Alex in the hole alone in the dark. She banged against something metal down there, and then a second time. With a muttered curse, Alex heard as Hanna banged on it constantly until it flew off. She reappeared moments later beckoning Alex to follow.

He crawled through the small tunnel, which was clearly much easier for Hanna. The tunnel opened up to a bright room. The room had strong use of beige wood and there was a reflecting pool in a rectangular shape. Four small beige bridges lead to the center, of which there was a great white and winding tree. Alex could only marvel at the beauty of it.

Alex looked around at those who were in the room. The girl who hurt his arm earlier sat underneath the tree, along with a red haired boy, not much older than Alex. They both looked at the hole relieved. On the other side of the room was mat and weapon rack. Two people were holding blunt swords and wore helmets, one was rushing towards them.

“Hanna! How many times have we told you!? That entry is to remain shut. The stairs are suitable enough!” He screamed, removing his helmet and letting his white and brown hair to fall out. Drakion.

“And every time I told you I like to go that way.” Hanna replied calmly, Drake just staring at her in disbelief. After a moment of silence, Alex thought he was about to start screaming at her, but Drake began to laugh instead. This brought out a laugh from Hanna as well.

“But Hanna, you have to stop going that way. It is a danger. And it is longer.”

“Fine. I will take your fancy stairs. Drake, you have met Alex.”

Drake hadn’t seemed to notice Alex until just then. He brought Hanna close to whisper, but Alex could still hear what he was saying. “Why did you bring him down here? You know it is too early to tell.”

Hanna pulled away and spoke loudly. “He has been confirmed, alright?”

“Nathan didn’t say anything to me about it, and I will be the only one to give you permission to take down anyone!”

The girl under the tree, Maria, spoke up. “I…I think it is my fault, Drake. I told Hanna I have never incapacitated a demon before. I didn’t think she would bring Alex down here.”

“See. He is Confirmed, so it is okay.” Hanna said fiercely.

“What?! That is not sufficient evidence to Confirm him. He has been here four days, for God’s sake!”

“If I may,” Alex said over their voices, “I am not a demon, or whatever.”

“I believe him, Drake.” Maria spoke up.

The auburn haired one moved closer and put his arm around Drake’s shoulder. Alex didn’t notice before, but the older boy had a scar over his eye. “The guy seems nice enough. And, tell you what, he makes a move I will slit his throat for you.” He smiled stupidly and then looked over Alex. “He doesn’t even appear to be a demon. I mean, he doesn’t act very self righteous or is he strong enough. Just look at those noodle arms!”

Alex had to fight the urge to hit him just then. “Do what you want then.” Drake said before walking off. “I will be in my office!”

Hanna chuckled, while the other boy laughed wildly. “So what is your name, Newcomer? Alex was it?” He asked.

Alex nodded. “Alex Norc-“

“Don’t use your last name.” Hanna interrupted, which seemed to be her thing. “You sound like you are trying to be something other than you really are.”

“Nice to meet you, Alex Norc. I am Adrian. Yeah, I got a pretty big reputation as the deadliest man alive.”

Alex would never believe this person could ever be deadly. “Come on. Let’s leave this idiot to himself.” Hanna said.

Adrian held his side, as if he were shot. “Ooo, Hanna. Why you gotta hurt me so bad?”

She rolled her eyes and lead Alex to Maria. “You met Maria.”

Maria put her hand out to shake Alex’s hand. “Nice to meet you for real, Alex. I hope I didn’t hurt you.”

“Just a little sore.” He replied.

“Let me see if I can fix that.” Maria stood up and turned Alex around. She began rubbing along his should and back. She hit something sending a flurry of pain in Alex’s back. He cried out and she jumped back. “I am so sorry! I am still kind of learning!”

“It is, uh, nothing. It is fine. I will be okay.” He winced as Hanna pulled Alex away, leaving Maria feeling bad.

“She is nice, but don’t let her touch you. And don’t tell Drake she makes mistakes, else you are going to be out like that. The only reason you are here is the idea she never messes up.”

“Okay….”

“Now, one last person for you to meet. Leal!”

The other one who was training took to a wooden dummy. “Is this the new guy?”

“This is Alex. The Newcomer.”

Leal removed his helmet, and he was a handsome kid, probably 20 or 21. “You know Nathan is going to want him out of here.” Leal grinned.

“Oh, what is he going to do? He is freaking 11!” Hanna laughed.

“So Alex, do you have a story to tell? Who were you before Laten?”

Alex pondered the question. He was a nobody, a loser. A criminal, a thief, a troublemaker. “I was lost.” He answered. “And you?”

“Nuh-uh.” Leal responded. “I am a mystery.”

Hanna smiled again. “He was the boy I would take home to let my parents know I was independent.”

Alex registered this and was bewildered. Hanna didn’t seem the dating type. “Relax, mate. We weren’t together, just told her ol’ man we were. Hanna is still free for you.” Leal raised his eyebrows, to which Hanna punched his shoulder.

“….that is great. So, what is the Fallen Blade?”

“It is what they were before.” A familiar voice spoke up. Alex turned to see Nathan standing there, Alex didn’t notice he even came in. “What is he doing here?” Nathan asked Hanna.

“I Confirmed him myself. You saw me take him.”

“I thought you were going to kill him?”

“And I will if I am wrong. He already knows about this place, so there is nothing else left to do. You want him dead, try to do it yourself.”

Nathan glared at Alex. “Fine…” he said quietly and defeated.

“Good. Now just answer the new guy’s questions.”

“At the beginning of Creation, along with man were the Children. They formed many different branches: the Children of the Seas, the Children of the Flame, the Children of the Mountains, the Children of the Trees, and the Children of the Sky. They formed a civilization somewhere around here. Some Children dropped their traditions and brothers to follow nothing. They would put down the weapons used by their family, and follow their own way. They were the Fallen Blades.”
“But you said something about ‘what they were before’.”

“The Children of Light came from the Fallen Blade. The saviours of the Brothers’ War. However, the Children of Shadow were another breakaway from the Fallen Blade as well.”

“And what does this have to do with demons?”

“The Shadow Children killed man, thus starting the Brothers’ War. They were merely a fraction compared to the rest of the Children. But the Shadow’s sold their souls away, damned for eternity. They became demons and they killed everyone. The Light Children defeated the main force. But the souls were immortal now, and the survivors are here today.”

“You have got to be kidding?!” Alex exclaimed. This was obviously some joke. “I mean children in wars.”

“They weren’t actual children, you fool! They are described as being smaller than the average man, they were fierce warriors! They died fighting for this land! The Children of the Sky were thrown from catapults as sacrifice! The Forest were hung from the branches. The Flame were burned to death! And the Sea drowned in the salty waters! They gave up everything for us!”

Nathan ran off towards the tree and climbed its branches. Alex laughed in disbelief, but when he looked back towards Hanna and Leal they stared at him seriously.

“It is true. We have seen it for ourselves.” Leal told him.

“Now, you have to decide. Either believe us and stay here or ignore the threat. If you choose the latter you must leave town.” Hanna explained.

Alex thought slowly. He assumed he would have to live there, not with Ebony, if he stayed. But he had no idea where to escape guilt anywhere else. Alex figured he should just reveal the whole place to the authorities. That kid was already messed up and needed help. He looked around the underground room and told them his answer.

Later that day, Drake wandered around the secret basement. “Where is Alex? Has anyone seen Alex?” Drake ventured over to the fighting mats and saw two masked fighters, their increased skill told him who they were. “Hanna! Leal! Where is Alex?”

Leal removed his mask and looked at Drakion. “He…”

“He left, didn’t he? I will go send Nathan to make sure he leaves town.”

“Wait…” Leal called out.

“I am right here.” Alex said, removing his mask.

That was a good update, Wind. I liked this part here: “They weren’t actual children, you fool! :) At the very end I thought Alex had left, but then he removes his mask and shows himself. I thought he had really left or something. Keep 'em coming.

Nice work, I really enjoyed Adrian's personality, and all the characters seem to have their own personalities, which is always good. ;)
