PSN Outage

Well, I know this is a relative Nintendo based website, but the psn outage has affected 100 million people, and chances are some of you are one of them. Since 4/20(WEED DAY!) the PSN has been down and Sony has been rebuilding their entire system from the ground up. I among many are pissed that it's been over 2 weeks since the outage. If you have any speculations or ideas, please post a comment. - May 8th

I may also add that through updates on playstation.com playstation.com sony has been adding new information to users who were online at the time of the outage and therefore still able to comment, though you can tell through lacking updates and no timetables that Sony is really in the crapper on this one. You can view the updates if you follow the link and scroll to the News and Events column in the middle of the page.

P.S. My I.D. is alexed2

After the hacking incident they're probably playing their cards close to their chests. Makes sense for the PSN to stay down until they've ironed out bugs and improved security so that there isn't a repeat incident.

I have heard reports that PSN users will be getting 2 free games out of 5 choices when they get PSN back up.

Yep, and so will the PSP community and then there was something about a 30 day free subscription to the PS+....or whatever. I honestly don't care anymore if the PSN will be back online or not. I'm still worried about my personal info landing in somebody's hands though. As for my account, it seems like I dodged a bullet. But, anyway...I'm kind of glad it was down earlier because I was able to focus on finishing my finals (Yay!). And now that it'll probably be a while before the network is back up; I can also 100% complete Final Fantasy XIII and the rest of my PS3 games.

...or I could always go back to wii. There's always that opinion too.:)

I'm a little worried about this myself... But as my mom pointed out to me, check out the information you put on facebook... Your name, DoB, Phone number, in some cases people put their addresses. Its not like they needed to 'hack' playstation to get this information. As for the credit card thing, you can call one of the credit reporting companies and put a fraud alert on your name... So if someone else tries to get credit in YOUR name, they will have to go through extra identification procedures in order to obtain it. (Making it less likely for them to be successful).

So all in all, it really isn't -that- big of a deal. As violated as we may still feel... And I'm with you on that one. However I'm coming to terms with it.

Hm, I guess I better do that in the morning then. Better safe than sorry. :S

Anyway, I was about to post an article from msnbc stating that the network would be back online at the end of May. But, it seems like not even Sony knows since they posted a blog.

I wonder if the Sony's PSN fiasco has any impact on when Nintendo decides to put the 3DS eshop online. They're likely trying to take measures so that the same thing doesn't happen to them. I just got my 3DS but no games yet until OoT comes out.

I was kinda pissed when PSN crashed, because me and a friend play black ops on the internet :( but Ive heard that sony's giving the players that were on when it crashed a choice of 2 free games out of 5. not sure if its true or not but that would be cooool.

Word around the rumor mill is that this incident has affected the whole gaming industry. Specifically Nintendo, rumor is that they delayed the launch of the Nintendo eShop by two weeks so they could add additional security measures to protect people's credit cards information better, as the eShop's signature feature is going to be being able to add money directly to an account on it with a credit card. And the credit card information was the most serious information that the hacker(s) got access to in the PSN hacking.
