Phantom Hourglass Mercay Island Tree

Just got the legend of zelda phantom hourglass and one of the guys there said there was a tree that if you give it a big enough blast then something would happened. I've tried bombing it but that doesnt seem to work. i cant think what to do? Any help?

The tree in the northeast corner? Try a roll attack.

I've tried a roll attack but i dont think you can do them on phantom hourglass. do you know how to do them?

To do a roll attack in PH, you need to draw a tiny circle with your stylus. Like, you are running toward the tree, and just before you hit it, make a little circle and you should roll. It's pretty difficult - I have a lot of trouble with it. There are actually several trees throughout PH that will drop you a big Rupee if you roll into them, so you'll want to learn how.

An easier way to roll in PH is to repeatedly scribble at the edge of the screen.

I find it easy if when I'm holding the stylus to run, I just make a quick tiny circle, instead of lots of them. Seems to work better with me, I don't know. If I try to do a lot of them too quickly it doesn't register and I don't roll.

I just double tapped to do a roll. Like twice, right in front of Link.
