I mean, guitars these days are durable, but I agree, don't push it.
But as to why people do it, the reason is simple: because it's not theirs, and not their responsibility. That's what the skit is making fun of.
Yeah true. BUT STILLLL especially as a violinist. You put it string down, the bridge collapses, your strings break, etc. And while my violin is more delicate than a guitar, it still makes me want to punch someone.
Because some people just like to pull strings.
On guitars with floating bridges, I sometimes whack the whammy bar and it creates a warbling sound.
