How Does Link Get Off of Skyloft and Survive?

So, I was thinking, it appears that Link gets to Hyrule by means of leaping off of a floating island. But that would result in death, unless Hyrule is only like 4 feet below skyloft, which I doubt. So, I have an idea: what if Link got the Roc's Cape and used it something like a parachute for getting down, and found another means of getting up? he could then use it for aid in jumping down in Hyrule. What do you guys and girls think? would he have another method?

"...A land beneath the clouds is discovered, it's ruled by evil forces, but Link is forced to go there. Link has to travel between the two lands in this adventure. The Skyward Sword is his driving force behind his traveling between lands...."

Thisquote leads me to believe that the sword will somehow be used to get Link to and from Sky Loft. There is the scene of him jumping into the clouds, but how he lands is unknown at this point. I figure he either warps once he hits the clouds or somehow the sword transports him safely to the ground. In any case, he is apparantly forced to go to the land below, and you never start out with all your weapons, so if that scene was at the beginning of the game then I think he'll have to rely on the sword since he probably wouldn't have any items yet. Probably. Not definite at all. In any case, I think the point is that the sword plays a role in transporation...

But maybe I'm wrong. Sometimes English confuses me. Maybe "driving force" is meaning the other way that term is used.. uhm, "motivation." Maybe that quote only means the sword is his inspiration and motivation to travel between lands and doesn't have to do with the transportation at all. I don't know. I kind of figure the first idea though...

But what do I know. DX

Perhaps he is protected by the godesses or something? Protected until he gets to the till he reaches his destination then he is on his own... The way I would do this would be a fairy in a bottle so when I hit the ground and died I would be revived.

Interesting idea about the fairies, but the goddesses wouldn't help since there is not Hero of Time/Hero of Winds yet, so they probably wouldn't create a hero since birth or pre-birth. Maybe he gets knighted into one eventauly. Perhaps he made the illusion of suiside to stop the townspeople from chasing after him, but in reality got down a diferent way. Or maybe that method was just for commercial and never happens in the game.

My thoughts exactly. At first I took it to mean it was his means of transportation, but after Aonuma says that receiving the sword is the event that forces him to travel to the surface, the latter definition started to dominate in my mind as what was meant by that statement. But I still think the sword has something to do with how he travels.

This crossed my mind as well, and I kinda hope this is the case.

This is Nintendo we're talking about, they can fed us anything and expect us to chew it up, but I think the girl in the artwork communicates with Link beforehand (while he's in Skyloft) and gives him the answers he wanted know when he finds out about the land below, then the girl grants him a safe passage to the land below to retrieve the Skyward Sword, and then it allows him to travel back and forth safely.

The rumor I heard was the fairy thing in Twilight Princess was going to get him safely to the ground, I guess she comes whenever Link is near the diving spot.

Maybe link thinks it is a reguler sword and take a litteral leap of faith, but suprisingly, Adelle saves him. She might have not wanted him too know her secret, but had too so she could save his life. The first time I thought of this, I though he either rode the sheathed sword as a broom, or adelle temproarly opens up unseen wings and flies down as link hangs on.

No, Zelda already did that with Majora's Mask. The multiple island thread help me figure out a new method. According to miyamoto the evil lies under the clouds. But Anouma said little did he know about evil lieing on the floating islands. Assuming that it is the same evil, then maybe skyloft and hyrule are connected. Like a staircase made of clouds leading to the underland.

Link might have a plane to get down since the Islands did get up somehow and are likely held up by some type of flying technology.
