After a big Zelda release there is always some downtime. Sometimes it's two years, sometimes it's only a few months (such as the FS Anniversary > OoT3D > SS release schedule), and sometimes it's like five years if you do "3D release to 3D release".

But my question is, how do you supplement that Zelda drought; how do you deal with not having a Zelda game to play?

didn't build that
Pretty well, actually. While I love Ocarina of Time and The Wind Waker, the Zelda series is not the be-all and end-all for me. It's just another series I like.

I've recently gotten into playing RPGs more heavily. I poured over 150 hours into Xenoblade, which satisfied my craving for exploration, and it's since become my favorite game of the last gen. I plan on playing Chrono Trigger, Phantasy Star IV, and other RPGs before the next Zelda game comes out.

If I do get the urge to play a Zelda game, I'll go back to one of my favorites. Link's Awakening ranks among my favorites, butI haven't played it in over 10 years. There are also games like Okami that are similar, but not identical. In any case, there are plenty of things to fill in the gaps.

Replays, and believe it or not, I play a variety of games.

Though for this drought, I've been busy bringing my Zelda collection from 3 to 11 games now. I feel a bit accomplished actually.

Well, seeing as I get an average of 8 hours of gaming a month nowadays, it really doesn't affect me very much. I just go about with my life. It's only when a new game is released that I really get into gaming. Mostly, I don't really care about the wait before games get released.

Simple: Play other-series games ahead of Zelda, which isn't even that big of a priority in my gaming downtime anymore. I've been branching out into more of the J/RPG field, starting slowly with the Wii titles. Initially I went through two playthroughs of The Last Story, then picked up Okami and went through part of it. However, I stalled my completion of Okami whenever I came across Xenoblade, purely by chance. Already I've poured 40 hours into it, the majority of it easily consisting of freeroam, and have quite a ways to go, from what I'm told.

With all that's going on right now, I'm content to hold off on Zelda for awhile. But, naturally, nostalgia is sure to kick back in someday and urge me to replay some childhood games. Zelda will be one of them.

I usually play other games from Nintendo or video games in general. It really does help supplement my time when I completed the latest installment in the Zelda franchise. I also watch lots of anime, practice my french horn, research information of video games such as Pokemon X and Y, and simply just enjoying my time in the forums.

I... play other games. Am I allowed? While I can go back and play other Zelda titles (and I do), I'm not shy towards Super Smash Bros, Mario, Crash Bandicoot and Metroid games. Not going to list off every series I play, but Rayman is a recent case of frequent play sessions.

I play something else.
For a time I had played other games in the series to keep me sated. As you can see in my signature, I've played every game in the series thus far save for the spin-offs due to their canon-icity being iffy. I'm considering replaying Skyward Sword... but for now I have Rayman Legends for Wii U.
