I highly doubt it will be Malladus. He was sort of a one-game antagonist and a sad excuse for a villain. It's also very unlikely that we'll be seeing Ganon in any form in Skyward Sword, so that possibility is ruled out. I think we'll just have to wait and see on this one.

ok i know this is most likely wrong but just hear me out, what IF ghirahim does resurrect his master in the form of links rival who eventually becomes ganondorf. i know there are so many flaws to this but hey why not?

Part of me feels that Ghirahim's Master is Vaati. That will then prove that the Minish Cap does in fact happen before anything else (even though I never supported that theory). But I really want it to be Ganondorf just because it seems wrong to not have Ganon as the villain that started it all. Sure there could still be prequels but Skyward Sword has to do with the creation of the Master Sword and I would like to believe that he's the reason they had to forge it. And that figure in the intro does look very familiar...

Ghirahim doesn't have one ear bigger than the other. o_O His hair just covers up the other.

Obviously you haven't seen the screenshot of his left ear being shown from under his hair. The ear his hair covers up is round.

Nah, that picture doesn't say much. It's still hard to tell. Given the viewpoint and the way game graphics bug out a little with overlap, it's all quite a stretch to make big statements about significance of his ears. Not to mention the figure in the intro who you think is Ghirahim doesn't have one round ear, he has one that looks a little smaller. You could be on to something, but I highly doubt it.

As for the Vaati idea, I really like that. It's uncanny how much Ghirahim looks like Vaati and from day 1 that's been my theory. After all Vaati does go after MC Zelda's light force, which sounds a lot like part of the story told in SS' intro. And ressurection by Ghirahim would help explain how he goes from dead in MC to sealed in the four sword in FS.

Ok then I will rephrase that: one of Ghirahim's ears is long and pointy (typical of most humanoid inhabitants of Hyrule). The other is short and may or may not be pointed. It does not match the other. Better?

There's another angle that's much clearer.

See how small the ear itself is and how flat the side is? I think it's pretty clear that his left ear is round. I can't force you to believe this, but I can put out what's there. (This was actually part of an old thread, so it's been known for quite some time.)

Vaati is a Picori, which are very tiny beings. The only reason Vaati had his human form was due to the Minish Cap that Ezlo made. This pretty much makes Vaati impossible to be part of the equation with Ghirahim.

The black creature could be a weakened/not fully awakened form of his master. This would explain why it eats Zelda in Link's dream. It appears to be fought in the Sealed Grounds - maybe it cannot take it's true form unless it escapes the Sealed Grounds.

I don't see what would cause you to think that (the master thing). If he's "trying to revive his master," that really seems to suggest that his master is still dead.

Well, either Ghirahim does not know that his master is alive in this form, or the monster does not attempt to escape until after Ghirahim tells us he is attempting to revive his master. I don't necessarily believe any of this, I just can't really think of any other explanation for this beast. It makes more sense than anything else I can think of with the information we have at this point.

Looking up the definition for revive, it states : "working to make operative again" and "allowing to be conscious again".
So his master might not be literally dead. When Zelda was in a deep sleep (which game?), Link had to revive her in the sense that she would just regain consciousness, but she wasn't exactly dead.
However, it can go either way, with Ghirahim really trying to re-breath life into his master or just helping him regain consciousness.
