Breath of the Wild Do you feel BoTW has the potential to become your favourite Zelda?

Nintendo are doing something odd with BoTW. Theyre keeping the story mostly locked down. This isnt something theyve really done before (or at least to this degree) and as a result we're getting trailers unlike anything we've seen before.

Characters and events seem to have a lot more gravitas and things feel new and exciting again. We expect to see Zelda and Ganon in Zelda games yet BoTW is making them feel way more important and exciting than they have been in a long time.

The fact that the mysterious woman in the second trailer could possibly be Zelda has generated a lot of hype, she feels more important than ever, as does the story.

As someone who has played Zelda all of her life for the story im so happy that Nintendo are pushing the story this tine and so far theyve done it well.

Of course there's still time for them to mess it up, but if they dont.... ive not felt this intrigued and excited about a Zelda game since The Wind Waker in 2003... if BotW keeps going the way its going and delivers... well, The Wind Waker may have some incredible competition. After nearly 15 years (almost half my life) it would be nice to finally say i have a new favourite Zelda.

But what about you guys? Do you feel the same way? Could Breath of the Wild top your favourites if it keeps going the way its going and delivers?

absolutely from the combat alone. i'm sure i'll breeze through it given my epic gaming pedigree but it looks like it can legitimately be challenging. no stealth head-on combat shirtless no food 3HC runs :D im salivating

Gameplay wise it does combine aspects which haven't been combined before but it does seem you can do everything in other open world RPG's. 3D Zelda games tend to be fun to play regardless but that's not is what will make it the best Zelda for me. It is the story and characters which would have to do that.

They'd need to top TP in terms of story and characters. In particilar Midna, a companion which I loved. They would also need the best version of Ganon yet. I fear that this could become like Fallout and that the main story takes a backseat. This must not happen if it is to be the best Zelda.

So Yes, it has the potential but I am doubtful it will pull it off.

Honestly? No. As someone who still does at least a yearly run of Ocarina of Time, this game would have to be an incredible masterpiece to take the place of my favorite game of all time. Not nostalgia here. Ocarina of Time still holds up, still plays well, and still feels epic in 2016. Will BoTW do that for me? Can it do what MM, WW, TP couldn't? It could, it definitely could, but my standards are very high.

Here's to hoping!

Absolutely, and that's saying a lot. Everything we've seen so far, the art style, the design of the Shiekah tech, the size of the world, the physics, it's really hitting it home for me. It's still to early to tell, though, because the biggest factors in Zelda games for me are the dungeons and sidequest. Story is gonna matter too. As far as comparing it to other Zelda games goes, we haven't seen peanuts.

It's not likely that Nintendo will let us down in these departments, but I can't make any assumptions till I've played it.

Of course. Every new Zelda game has the potential to become my favorite one. Just going off of what we've seen so far, I'm not entirely sure if it'll become my new favorite, but I can't say for sure until I actually play the game. BotW will have tons to explore though, which is one of my favorite things to do in the games, so that's a huge plus.

Any Zelda game has the potential to. Will Breath of the Wild? Maybe, but it's really too easy to tell yet. Love the world, but I haven't seen enough of the dungeons, boss battles or enemies to really have a good idea either way.

The open world alone is enough to push it way up in my list. Considering every single thing revealed about the game, from art style to mechanics to the way you discover the story down to every little nitty gritty detail is either something I've always wanted or something I hadn't thought about but love regardless, Breath of the Wild feels like its tailor-made with my interests. Honestly this is the most excitement I've had for a video game in years. It's everything I could have asked for and then some in any video game, not just Zelda. If it delivers on all of this, it might just become my favorite video game period.

I believe it will. It seems to be everything I could have hoped for in an open world Zelda game. I need this game in my life!

BoTW has already been just about disqualified as a possible favorite after what I've seen, what I'm wondering is will I even like it.

What did you see that makes you think that way DJ Twitch?

I already thought BotW would be my favourite zelda but now with the new trailers I'm even more convinced of it.

Yes and no:

Yes because I don't rule anything out before I've played it, I'm open to the idea that any Zelda can become my favorite.

No because I don't.... have a favorite even now.

I think it could, if they pull everything off perfectly.

Like, it would need to be absolutely flawless in what they're doing; mind you, my favorites are OoT and MM, but both are very dated IMO.

The reason (other than nostalgia) they are still my favorites is also that they didn't have any visible flaws for their time. Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, I loved them to death as well, all are excellent games and surpass the former 2 in their own ways; buuuut they do have some flaws that OoT and MM don't have on design.

I'm pretty hopeful though, so far it looks amazing in all ways :3 I don't think it will disappoint.
