When I think dark in the Zelda franchise, the best route to go would be Dark Fantasy as Zelda already is a fantasy.

Why do you think darker franchises exist? Just for the hell of it?

I am not sure this is relevant to the thread...but when people want to play a darker Zelda, they want to play a darker Zelda. Not Darksiders, God War, or any other knock-off esque series. People can desire things as they so please. There's no harm in it whatsoever.

I am a Zelda fan, not a fan of Darksiders of GOd of war or CoD or others like that.

I'm not talking about Zelda clones, I'm talking about darker games in general. It just kinda irritates me that people can't realize, "Oh, Zelda's not supposed to be this way and I should respect it for what it is regardless of my personal desires." I also find it really annoying that people want a lighthearted series to become darker but would flip out at the idea of a darker franchise becoming lightheared. Double standard much?

Change isn't always bad JJ. I mean, just look at Batman's transition from Silver Age to Modern Age.

Hey guys, how about more time about the topic at hand and less time arguing over something else?
Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are good for their own reasons so let's leave that part to rest.

In my opinion, yes, we could use another dark title at some point in the near future. As for if the series [REALLY] NEEDS one, not necessarily. All things in moderation...

I agree with your OP mostly, the point I see it from is that if we are going to have romantic relationships, the dark sides of politics & corruption and other stuff that we usually don't see in utopia like children's worlds then it really can't hurt to have mild gore/profanity in the game since it will probably just strengthen some already mature aspects of the game. LoZ could go either way, dark or light but either way I very much doubt a dark game would change the core feel of Zelda which is after all to fight monsters in dungeons and save the princess from the bad guys. Personally I'd want something fresh which would preferably be a darker game, more serious characters that have more human feelings we can relate to.

tl;dr

The series doesn't need a darker game but could be just fine if not better with a darker and more mature game.

I don't understand why the fandom is *****ing about having a darker storyline. Would it be cool to have another one? Sure. But we REALLY DON'T need to have yet a another dark Zelda game, and I'm really getting tired of fans saying:

"Oh but MM and TP don't count!!! pl0x i am a n00b!!11"

Guess what, technically, they do count as dark Zelda games. Everyone's just so hellbent on having yet ANOTHER dark Zelda game that we can't appreciate what we already have. I'm getting reaaal tired of this "darker Zelda" ********, if it wasn't obvious enough.
