What are some card games you play?

My husband's family is really into card games. We play games like knock 21, speed, nerds, and loads of others.

There was one card game though that I never quite got the hang of, and recently I've been thinking about it. Its called Mao.
Its a fairly secrative game, as part of the game is to figure out the rules as you go, and the rules change periodically.

Well its your turn. What card games are your favorites or ones you play?

I don't play it anymore, but I was a Yu-Gi-Oh fanatic way back in the day. I still love the concept of Yu-Gi-Oh (which is actually suppose to be called Duel Monsters) because it had a huge part of my earlier days. I was awesome at it, but I had the sorriest deck. I knew people who sucked and had spectacular cards. I once took someones cards, chose 50 of them, and separated them from the other 150. I said, "use this as a deck." I never beat them again. But it's still fun to once in a while, dust off the deck and try playing again.

I like playing BS, Blackjack, Goldfish (lol), Mah Jong, Solitaire, and Yu-Gi-Oh! (wait. Do you mean trading card games too?:S)
Anyway, I usually play these because their easier to understand since I'm not that great with complex card games.:hmm: Yu-Gi-Oh! was fun to play with other people are different card shops, but ever since the original anime was completed and 4kids started showing the spin-offs and introducing the new cards....it just hasn't been the same:kawaii:. I miss the good ol' days.

I haven't played with cards in a while, but one of my favourites is Crazy Eights. I used to play it so much, with different variations, too.
And Go Fish is fun too =D

YES. My favorite card game of all time is Cribbage.
It's an awesome game and it usually uses a board, but it's just a way to keep score really...
It's my favorite because I can play it with my dad for hours and we have a tab going, plus it's a game that requires a bit of luck, but mostly it requires skill and good understanding of the game. It's a two player game, but that makes it more intimate.

A close second is called Casino.
The game is all cards, no score required (well, maybe, but I can do it in my head) and it requires strategy. The game consists of pickup cards using pairs or sums and you are trying to get special points cards in addition to getting the most cards. Loads of fun. This game is also for two players.

When I'm looking for a good time with 3 or more people I usually go with ERF, BS or Spoons.
ERF (aka Egyptian Rat *screw*) is a fast paced game and it gets really intense. You slap the deck when a pair appears and people like to get creative with it as it's easy to add rules such as getting punch on a bad slap or slapping on red 10's etc.

BS (aka Bull *poop*) requires a little more strategy with players often lying. You can really learn a lot about a person by playing BS with them because they lie or faux lie and people get tricked all the time! It's really fun!

Spoons is another fast paced game where up to potentially 13 players are passing cards trying to 3 or 4 of a kind and then errbudy scrambles for a spoon (or pen or whatever) and it's a lot of fun. I love card games. Seriously. Card games are to me what bottles are to Axle the Troll.

I play this one game with my friends called kemps but I'm not sure how many people know it. You need 2 teams of 2 and need to collect 4 of a card.

My favorite game would have the be rummy.
In rummy, every person has an odd amout of card (dealers choice) and you try to lose all your cards by placing sequences of card (7, 8, 9) but they must all be suited. another way to earn "points" if you want to keep score is by putting down three of a kind, but my family hates doing that. We call it "stooping."

Completely forgot about Uno! I've played that game so many times when I was younger it didn't make any sense. And then there was Uno attack, Uno Blitso, Duo and all other sorts of varieties I tried.
