I saw your post in the anime thread where you said you're playing through ToS. Is it your first time playing it? If so, I envy you. I love that game--I bought it back in 2004 on Chise's recommendation, and while I initially didn't like it much, it grew on me over a year. Once I hit the 20-hour mark, I really started to enjoy the direction the game was taking me.
The fact is, not counting the Pokemon games, it was my first real exposure to the JRPG genre. It's not my favorite anymore--Skies of Arcadia is, and it's also my favorite game after Ocarina of Time--but ToS always has a special place for me.
It's especially funny you should mention ToS since I'm playing through Tales of Vesperia right now (about 20 hours in). I have regretted getting an Xbox 360 instead of a PS3 for some time, but Vesperia makes it all worth it. It's not as good as Symphonia, nor is it as charming, but it has an appeal all its own. The characters are more mature and less over-the-top, and the story's slower and less...plot twist-y (I haven't run into any yet, whereas in Symphonia, it seemed like there was a twist for every hour of gameplay), which I kind of enjoy. As much as I love it, playing it makes me want to play ToS all over again.
