Breath of the Wild

"This mysterious mineral gives off a pale blue glow in the dark, which some believe to be souls of the dead. Apparently, this stone can be used as a base to make special clothing."

— In-game description

Luminous Stones can be mined from Luminous Ore Deposits, which can be found scattered all over Hyrule, but especially in caves and overhangs, as well as from Luminous Stone Taluses. They glow with a soft blue in the dark, making them difficult to miss. Like all other stone deposits, Luminous stones are often found alongside Flint. It is required if Link wants to purchase the Radiant Set from the Gerudo Secret Club in Gerudo Town, since 3 are necessary to make each armor piece. Alternatively, they can be sold to shop-vendors such as Beedle for 70 Rupees each.

After completing the Reach Zora's Domain quest, Link can contact Ledo in Zora's Domain and exchange 10 Luminous Stones for a diamond — initially for 2 diamonds to complete the Luminous Stone Gathering quest, and later for 1 diamond — which is equivalent to a 700 Rupee cost (the total vendor cost of Luminous Stones) for a gain of 500 Rupees (the vendor cost of Diamonds). Albeit there's a net loss in Rupees, Diamonds are considerably more scarce and harder to find, which makes it a potentially worthwhile exchange.

A Luminous Stone is required to reveal Sho Dantu Shrine, which should be dropped on top of the Shrine Pedestal on an alcove mid-way through Karusa Valley on the south of the valley.

Age of Calamity

Tears of the Kingdom

Luminous stones can be mined from Luminous Stone Deposits, which can be found scattered all over Hyrule, but especially in caves and overhangs. They glow with a soft blue in the dark, making them difficult to miss. Like all other stone deposits, Luminous stones are often found alongside Flint.

The Radiant Set no longer requires Luminous Stones to purchase, but requires 225 to upgrade all three pieces to ★★★★ level; as does the Hero of Awakening Set. As part of a devaluation of all ores and gems, Luminous Stones now only fetch 20 rupees each when sold.

While they can be fused to make blunt weapons, they have a fuse attack power of only 1 and no special fuse properties, making them of little value as such. They can be used for navy clothing dye at the Kochi Dye Shop.
