Flint can be obtained by mining various Ore Deposits, but they are more common in caves and by cliff sides.
Flint can be used to start a campfire if Link also has some Wood handy. After dropping Wood and Flint on the ground, Link can strike the flint with a metal weapon to create a fire. This cannot be done while it is raining. Link can also start a fire where there is a Cooking Pot nearby, by dropping some Flint and striking it with a metallic weapon.
