With PS4 Announced, Do You Think Wii U Is In Trouble?

Because that equals more games?

Yeah...but eh...not many of them I find worth buying. It seems silly for Nintendo to bend over backwards to get 3rd party support. I mean look at the PS3. It had more 3rd party support than the Wii, but out of the three consoles, it's considered the one with no games. Well...this is because, despite its 3rd party support, it didn't have a lot of memorable games.

That's....an oxymoron. The N64 was when Nintendo officially stopped caring for 3rd party support. More irony? The Wii U is actually trying harder to gain 3rd party support...for reasons I cannot fathom.

Was it really? I do remember some stuff from Acclaim and a few other developers, but that may just be me fawning over the stuff I enjoyed as a kid. Correct me if I'm wrong there. Yeah...I think Rare was 2nd party in regards to Nintendo. Maybe I'm just hazily remembering stuff.

Yeah, Rare was pretty much 2nd party...and the only reason they left is because they were bought out. Even then, most of them quit over it. But 3rd parties were pretty turned off by Nintendo because of the whole cartridge thing. When GC came, it was tiny disks, when Wii came, it was motion gaming.

?

I think you mean the 360. The PS3 has a ridiculously strong library due to its stellar exclusives.

Hmmm

Seriously I don't know how anyone can say that the PS3 has little or good exclusives, from owning a PS3 I can say that this console had some great exclusives and for me in quantity it beat the Nintendo Wii's exclusives. Just to name some...

- Resistance Fall of Man
- Resistance 2
- Resistance 3
- Heavy Rain
- Uncharted Drakes Fortune
- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
- Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception
- Infamous
- infamous 2
- Little Big Planet
- Little Big Planet 2
- Killzone 2
- Killzone 3
- Gran Turismo 5
- SOCOM
- God of War 3
- Metal Gear Solid 4
- Ico and Shadow of the Colosuss HD Collection
- MAG

Am sure there are more but I would consider all these games to be some of my favorites across this generation and just look how many there are, I wouldn't say the PS3 had a weak library.

It's an internet meme. I'm not going by actual experience, more from what people have told me and what I hear.

- Uncharted Drakes Fortune
- Little Big Planet
- God of War 3
- Metal Gear Solid 4
- Ico and Shadow of the Colosuss HD Collection.

The ones I heard about.

Again, mostly going by memes and basic stuff I've heard. ^_^;

EDIT: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/ps3-has-no-games

Huh....apparently the PS3 did have the least games...I thought it just meant exclusives. I thought for sure the Wii would have the least considering no 3rd party support--guess I was wrong.

Got to remember that these exclusives that the PS3 had where highly rated, so in that sense the PS3 had the most highly rated exclusives. The Nintendo Wii had tons of gimmicky games that took advantage of the motion controls and of course at the time these could not be ported over to the PS3 prior to PS Move.

Nah. I wouldn't be too concerned. The more I use the Wii U, the more I really start liking it. I've never played PSanything so I guess I really can't judge that, but Wii U will still sale, even if it is slowly. I think that the PS4 may cause Nintendo to smarten up, and drop the price of Wii U. As soon as they do that, and get some good games out, I think the Wii U will be fine and start doing better, much better. Maybe I'm crazy, but that's my opinion.

Yes, the Wii suffered from more shovelware than the 360 and PS3 but I doubt that’ll be the case with the Wii U.

Yes, there already are terrible titles like Sing Party available but when you look at what’s ahead from third parties-Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Rayman Legends, Watch Dogs-it’s easy to see Nintendo has committed itself to reclaiming the “hardcore” audience it lost during the transition from Gamecube to Wii.

Higher development costs will drive shovelware developers away as well. These companies have switched emphasis to smartphone and freemium games. These are the people (falsely) stating, “There is no future for dedicated consoles. Smartphones and tablets are the way to go.”

There is a significant graphical difference between the PS4 (and likely Nextbox) and the Wii U but Nintendo’s forage into the HD sphere is by no means underpowered. The Wii U is capable of producing gorgeous games and the confirmation of titles like Watch Dogs also coming to competing next generation hardware for Wii U is a healthy sign of things to come.
