Hallowed Be Thy Name.
Seven years ago, I would listen to this song ten times a day. Now, I go months without listening to it, but every single time I come back to it, I'm floored by how perfect it is. Want to know why Iron Maiden is THE definitive metal band, and why metal itself is one of the best music genres ever? Why they've released 15 consecutive albums without a single bad one? Why they continue to influence all of the best metal acts? This song might help answer all those questions, because you can draw a straight line from it to practically every good song they've played in their 32 years of album releases.
The funny thing is I don't even like this album that much, in spite of its popularity. It's not bad, of course, but it's one of the weaker ones in their discography. This song burns with so much power that it justifies ten times the asking price of the album.
Up the irons.
