What if Link Didnt Wear a Tunic.

It entirely depends on the games. I mean the reason he used to wear a tunic in the first place was because it was a depiction of common middle-ages attire (at least through the 80s and early 90s), giving you the impression that Link was of a modest background. Heck plenty of people in Zelda 2 were either in tunics, dresses or robes. Now the green tunic, for Hyrule, is an oddity and the armour of the hero. A change started by OoT, and built on further in TP with the chainmail under-layer.

So if Link, in a lot of these games, wasn't wearing a tunic, he'd probably be wearing clothes to match the locales. He'd be a lowly commoner, since that's the depiction we're given. So in games like WW and TP, he'd continue to wear those outfits. Same with what we've seen of Skyward Sword so far. In some of the earlier games, maybe he'd be wearing pants, but still have the tunic. Who knows!
