That's like saying what happened to the Gerudo. No one knows.

Actually many people theorize that the Gerudo became the Twili. Many in game details hint to this in TP. And until something else disproves it, its what I believe at least.

As for your question, no one does know about the Kokiri. There hasn't been the slightest clue about them since OoT, aside from the flute playing kid in ALttP resembling one, but we all know he wasn't. I have a couple of ideas on this one though that are pretty simple to think of.

Either. . .

*The Kokiri are still around, still living in the Deku Forest, but its been secluded since OoT because you have basically no reason to be there. The only reason Link met the Kokiri in OoT is because thats where he lived, and where he had to get the Spiritual Stone. No other Zelda title has required you to interact with the Kokiri or the Deku Tree, so why include it?

*The Kokiri are all dead. Somewhere after OoT, either Ganondorf and his army of Gerudo, or another evil (though if this theory is true it was probably Ganondorf) killed the Deku Tree, thus causing all of the Kokiri to eventually perish.

its likely that after the Deku Tree dies in the Child Timeline, he does not grow a new sprout (like in the adult timeline). if everyone remembers correctly, although link does go back in time and stop ganondorf before he can do damage, he still had to get the stones thus the Deku Tree would still be dead. maybe something happened and a new sprout never came so there was no protector of the kokiri thus causing them to die out. just an idea.

also, regarding the Gerudo being the Twili, if you pay attention, every time you save a twili creature and he is turned back to normal none of them resemble Gerudos at all and many of them are males. i doubt that in 100 years, the tribe changed so much that their "1 male every 100 years" thing changed so much. the only twili to resemble a Gerudo at all is Midna and thats only because she has red hair which im sure the Gerudos werent the only people in the world with red hair. other than that there were no resemblences. Zant wore the symbol of the Gerudo but that is most likely because he followed Ganondorf. as i said, a tribe would not change THAT much in 100 years. its probably NOT the Gerudo. it may not even be any tribe that we know of.

That could be, however I think that the Deku Tree still would have dropped a seed even though he technically wasn't saved after Link went back in time. The reason I believe this is that even after Link defeated Ghoma and retrieved the Spiritual Stone, the Deku Tree still died, yet still produced a sprout.

True, but the Twili people didn't evolve into what they looked like. They changed once they were in the Twilight Realm. No one knows how long this took or takes, therefore it could have been only a few years that they changed their look. If that is the case, then they wouldn't look like Gerudo people anymore even once they were transformed back from their creature form. They would simply look like what they became after they had been put inside the Twilight Realm. They didn't become the creatures until Zant turned them that way.

As for now, the conclusion is that they are a tribe whos origins we do not technically know, as is a lot of other things in the Zelda series that can be theorized various different ways. But much of the information about the Twili's background hints to the possibility that they were the Gerudo.

I'm just assuming they were too childish, so either were killed off by failing to build an ark during the 'Great Flood', but it could be possible, that they found another Island in the great sea far away from flooded Hyrule, or Nintendo got lazy, or thought they were a bad Idea and never put them in (Assuming that WW is part of the child timeline)

and in WW it is STRONGLY hinted that the deku tree transformed the kokiri into the korok so they could better live to the new flooded world.

Unless no-one has noticed, the "forest temple" in TP has the Kokiri symbol in it and resembles a giant TREE...HMMMMMM. The Kokiri are theorized to have become the monkeys.

As for the Geurudo/Twili thing, I personally believe the Twili were a mix of all races, but especially some Gerudo and some Sheikah...the only thing is that the TP Back Story happened before OoT...

Kokiri becoming monkeys? Where did you get that from?

how did the TP back story happen before OoT? i fail to see your logic there.

Ganondorf was supposedly a friend of the kings at the beginning of OoT so why would he have been excetued (or why would the royal family attempt to execute him) before OoT when the two kids see him in the castle.

by your logic, that would mean that OoT took place DURING TP because in the backstory, ganondorf is sent to the twilight realm...

i have no idea where you got that idea from.

It's possible that after a long period of time the kokiri wandered out of the forest and assimilated into Hyrulean society. Another thing is that maybe when, or if, they decided to leave the forest the found another forest where the deku tree had sent a seed before, or had sprouted later and decided to follow this deku tree.
