We have screenshots and videos of OoT3D. We compare it to the original and it looks as good (if not better!). The graphics are amazing, the frame rate is amazing, everything about OoT3D is great or more. Among some people, at least. Yes, I'm one of those people who doesn't really feel like the graphics of OoT3D fit with the title.

We have OoT original, TWW, and TP. Those three games more or less have a graphical style that is mostly unique to that game. OoT's wasn't cartoony nor was it deadon realistic. TWW was too cartoony, and TP was too realistic. OoT is the middle man. But what about 3D? Why do the graphics rub me the wrong way? The lighting is a bit too bright for my taste, being completely honest. I'm not trying to start an argument, but do any of you feel like Nintendo could've made 3D's graphics a bit more on the realistic side?

I talked about this on another thread, I am glad I am not the only one who feels that way. It just seemed to me instead of just updating the graphics they changed the atmosphere and style that OoT had. That doesn't make it bad but it turns me off for sure, but I wouldn't be getting the game any time soon either way anyways.

the brightness doesnt matter because u could just turn the brightness on the system down and it will look just like the original so it doesnt really matter

Maybe Nintendo decided to upgrade the graphics and make it look better so that, perhaps, younger gamers might be interested in the game. That could bring more people into playing Zelda. I think this because most of my cousins usually play a game if its got good graphics, but I know graphics isn't everything.

Yeah turning the brightness up or down won't make it look like the original at all, but that's okay because they technically ARE two different games at least from my point of view. I'm not saying Nintendo is heading in the wrong direction (they definitely aren't if the game gets the same critical reception like the original did), but taking the graphics closer to reality would attract me a lot more than just hearing the name "Ocarina of Time".

Seth, if you already made a topic like this then I'm sorry for *stealing your idea*!

For me it seems a waste of money releasing this game in 3D.
I feel metaknight your cousins are too influenced bu graphics when it come to playing games mate.

They should play an older Zelda game like LttP which is just amazing in both music, enjoyment, levels, weapons.
If your cousins are just going by graphics they will miss out on some of the best games ever.

Oh no not at all! It was a topic asking if you were going to buy it or not and I mentioned it as a reason I might not want to get it.
I agree I don't think it is the wrong direction or a bad thing I just don't like it is all. Just personal opinion.
But I admit that having the master quest as part of it might be reason enough to get it one day if I ever have a 3DS.

I honestly think the graphics are beautiful and Nintendo's done a great job with it. It's not choppy, the frame rate is amazing and it's brighter. Usually it's hard to change a game that was so perfect in it's time like goldeneye 64 for example but they really haven't ruined this game at all and I can't wait for it :D

What I meant to say was that if younger audiences bought the game and really enjoyed it, they might look into playing other zelda titles.
I tell my cousins to play LttP, but they kinda throw it back in my face.:S

All in all, I think that they did a great job with the graphics so far. It's much more detailed and I especially like that they use real time rendering for Hyrule Castle Town and many of the backgrounds instead of pre-rendered bitmaps.
The only small complaint I have is the lack of anti-aliasing or sup pixel rendering. At the relatively low resolution of 2*400*240p, this hould be very well doable with the 200MHz graphics chip which is used.
You can see a lot of jagging especially at the borders between Link and his environment which shouldn't be there. It's very visible in this screen:

Here's where they still could invest some work, but I'm afraid the game's already 100% finished.

EDIT: Oh, and I also don't think they went too far with updating the graphics. Some change is OK. It's not like they turned it into 100% cel-shaded or 100% realistic. If they had simply left everything exactly as it was ("true to the original"), then I would've been very disappointed.

I understand what you mean, blubb, but those small discrepancies are only noticeable if you stare deeply into the image. Had it been in a video format, I doubt you would realize the jagged edges unless you viewed the scene a couple times (5 at least). You also need to remember that all games do that, in still images or not, at some point.
