Prologue:

In the beginning, there were two powerful beings. One a god, the other a goddess. These deities created the world we know of. Together, they shaped the land and gave it life. But with life came a price: the creation of man. They created humans and spread them throughout the land, where man made seven separate kingdoms, each devoted to the worshipping of the god and goddess. But evil arose in the heart of man. War broke out amongst them. The godly pair created a third god to send to this world in order to control man. But this god harnessed man's evil for his personal gain and became powerful to the point of near-invincibility. The original god and goddess created seven powerful gems, bestowing one upon each kingdom. Seven heroes, gems in hand, waged war against the evil god. They were eventually able to use the gems to seal away this malicious deity, but not before six of the seven kingdoms were destroyed.

The seven holy gems were lost to time, and the survivors of the war rebuilt civilization. Evil was nonexistent... for some time. Man, as well as the god and goddess, knew that the evil deity would one day return. The godly couple created a sacred tome, and gave it to the surviving kingdom. This tome prophecized the return of of the evil god. Over millennia, malice slowly seeped back into the heart of man.

This world was named Victoria. The surviving kingdom was dubbed Codune. The kingdom of Codune is currently on the brink of war with its neighbors.

"I find the defendant guilty!" announced the judge.

Alex Carlisle sighed. He'd done his best to defend the defendant, but even his greatest efforts couldn't cheat the law. His client was guilty. He knew that.

"The defendant shall be sentenced to immediate public execution!" the judge announced emotionlessly. Alex couldn't help but wonder how many people he had sentenced to death over the years. He'd been the kingdom's high judge for as long as Alex could remember. His name was Harry Lawson, humorously.

"I call for an appeal!" Alex cried.

"Denied. This case has been dragged out long enough."

Alex walked over to the man he'd been defending. Winston Cunningham. "Sorry, Winston," he said, placing a hand on his shoulder. "But you can't hide from the law forever."

Winston was notorious for being a high-end assassin. Alex, along with everyone else in the kingdom, knew it. Solid proof just hadn't shown up until now, in the form of a witness.

Lance Flinn Tolkein was this witness. Cunningham had assassinated his father when Lance was young, but it had taken years to prove it.

Alex glanced around the courtroom. He caught the eye of Kirinen Aberita, a well-known citizen of Codune. Word on the street was that she'd accidentally burned down her house down several years ago. She'd escaped, but her family did not. She'd served as a member of the jury during the trial.

Alex couldn't help gut feel ashamed for this blemish on his record. Born as a commoner, he always yearned to lead more than a simple blue-collar life. He was always intelligent(marked by his brown glasses), and had decided to study diplomacy in school. He eventually earned the title of "Lord" and became a diplomat and ambassador to the kindom; the most successful in Codune. And he was only fifteen. He wore a black suit with a large red cape, had brown eyes and hair of the same color that stuck up like a crown over his forehead. The high life had gotten him somewhat chubby, however. He carried a sword in a sheath for protection. He was also a capable attourney, and this trial marked one of the few times he'd failed in one of his duties.

Cunningham was grabbed by two guards and escorted outside the courtroom. They were obviously going take him to the Gallows in the public square.

"Lord" Alex Carlisle moved along with the bustling crowd, dreading to have to watch even this guilty man be executed.

((Now, I need the rest of you to find your way to the town square to watch the execution one way or another.))

After the case was set. Lance Tolkien stood up from his seat. A strong sense that sweet justice was coming for him and his family coursed through his veins... but didn't feel quite right. "What more could I want, the man that killed my father is finally been brought to justice" Lance thought, "But why does his victory feel so empty?"

He continued down to the Gallows, his red cape flowing behind him. He wanted to see his father's murderer killed, first hand. But still...

Lance reached the Gallows and stopped in his tracks. He clutched his cape closely to his arms, the cape was a gift from his departed father. And he suddenly thought. There was a woman in the jury he remembered from somewhere. Yeah, sure, the rumors. But little did everyone know they were true. Lance was there. But, he didn't want to think of that now, even though he lightly stroked the scar on the left side of his face. The time of the execution was near.

(Can I applause you for this? Seriously. They way you introduced Lance was perfect. It made me have some way for Lance to get his scar *which I sort of stated* and how his father died *which is different in my canon but works perfectly in this RP*. So, yeah. Nice work. I can tell I will like the RP a lot more than I already did ^.^
also I am changing Lance's outfit a little... he'll have a black tunic/suit thing with a red cape, its better this way. And of course, if there is ever battle in this, he'll have black armor. yaay!)

((Well, my character has a red cape, you copycat.

...But seriously, I appreciate those kind words! I can only hope I get the same reaction from HM and Tatl with their characters. The execution won't happen for a little whille longer though; Lord Carlisle's got some discovering of ancient artifacts to do first. You got to the gallows fast!))

((Ooh, I love it. Excellent! And, Silver... very clever. Verrry clever.))

Kirinen caught Alex's eye and gave him a look of sympathy. She has marked Winston guilty herself, but it always hurt her a little to see those who were guilty of a crime punished even as someone who was equally guilty remained free of the law, a part of that law herself... She shook her head and stood carefully, stepping around the other members of the jury to step outside the courtroom. SHe had no intention of watching the man's execution, but needed some fresh air. The crowded stands could get rather heated during a trial.

Her dark hair was held up in a ponytail today, but Kirinen herself was the same as ever. She reached inside her long black jacket and pulled out the arrowhead pendant, an elegant bodkin, to just look at it for a moment. It always hung around her neck on a black leather cord. Always, like a good-luck charm of sorts Which it really was.

Alex trudged glumly down the castle corridors, when an arm grabbed his own and yanked him from the crowd. "GAH!" he cried. He turned to meet the gaze of a battered old man in a fancy silk robe.

"Alex," he said. "This is very important. Come with me, quickly!"

Alex knew this man. He was Hershel Vurrs. Hershel had been his tutor in the diplomatic arts, and was currently the kingdom's prime minister. He was held in high regard as a political figure, and knew all there was to know about Codune. Alex followed the old man through a corridor and down a flight of stairs.

"This isn't right, you know." Hershel said, pointing to the ceiling, where the sound of shuffling feet could be heard.

"I feel strangely bad about it. But there's nothing wrong. Cunningham's guilty of numerous crimes, and this is his punishment."

Hershel shook his head. "You don't understand." They walked straight into the castle's religious sanctuary. It was a large room lined with gold statues of ancient figures. Alex glanced towaed the two large golden statues at the far end of the room, lined up against a wall. One was of the all-powerful god Regis. The other was of his queen, the goddess Regina. Everyone in the kingdom knew the story of those two.

Hershel gestured to the side of the statue of Regis. "Push." he commanded.

Alex stared at him in disbelief. "Are you alright?"

"I said PUSH."

Alex sighed and put all his strength into moving the statue over a few feet. He doubled over, panting, when he noticed for the first time an opening in the wall where the statue once stood.

"Come."

Liam swung through the treetops of the forest. Today was the day. He would finally go into the town today. He reached the edge of the trees and flipped out. He walked toward the town.

Alex followed Hershel into a massive chamber. The walls, floor, and ceiling were all made up of a very slick tile, so much so that you could see your own reflection.

"How long..." Alex began, taken aback. "How long has this been here?!" He couldn't quite believe this room had gone unnoticed. The ceiling was at least thirty feet off of the ground.

Then he saw it. Located at the far end of the room, on a pedastal, was a large tome. Behind this was a gigantic painting covering the entire northern wing of the room.

The painting depicted seven figures, each holding a different-colored gemstone. They were banquishing a giant. The evil god Anitrita. Alex was all too familiar with this legend.

He turned back to the book.

"This book," said Hershel. "This sacred tome... is called... The Divinity.

Lance sighed, he figured he was a little early. He shrugged and thought "maybe I should just walk around town a little until this thing begins." And with that thought, he once again picked himself up off his chair. Getting out of the Gallows, he walked back to where the trial had been to see if he could spot a friendly face. He then saw a woman with dark hair and a ponytail. Lance knew she'd be in the trial.

He slowed walked up to her. "Hey." He called out when he was only a few feet away, "You were on the trial, correct?" He asked her this even though he already knew the answer.

(I just wanted to try to meet other characters... is that alright? I got him out of the gallows to)

((Well, who's this character? If it's a hero that hasn't been introduced to the story yet, you shouldn't be bringing them into it yourself. If it's Kirinen, or some made-up person, that's fine.))

Kirinen turned around alertly to look at the speaker. The witness, Lance Tolkien. She nodded. "Yes, I was. And you were the witness... yes?" She dropped the necklace back under her jacket and let her hand fall, turning to face him fully.

((Don't worry, it's Kirinen. I know my Guiding Star wherever she is X3))

(It was Kirinen, I gave Mono enough context clues to see that XD. I'm trying to have Lance meet up with the other characters of this story)

Lance nods, "Yes, I am." He then twiddles his thumbs, "You voted against that man correct?" He wanted to know what her stand point on the trial was.

She nodded. "The evidence clearly marked him guilty. I don't like it, but justice is a half-starved beast that finds us all one way or another..." She drifted off. Her mother's many little sayings had seemed so irrelevant in her youth, but these days she found herself saying them everywhere. It was funny, how things changed and made so much more sense as a person grew older. She was twenty-two now.

((there you go, Silvy. She's twenty-three. Deal.

EDIT: Gawd, ages. Complications... MLEH.))

"Well, I'm glad... I think." he paused, "That man killed my father, he needed to be brought to justice." He then clears his throat, "Where are my manners, I never introduced myself, I'm Lance Tolkien, but you might already know that... and you are?" He asked as he extended out his hand.

(I can deal. Lance can be the same age. I just didn't want to huge age gap is all....)
