I already got the 3DS on day one for one particular reason. And no, it's not because it was 3D. It was because we were finally getting console quality games on a handheld. That was my main reason for getting it on the first day, the other features and innovations are pretty cool too. The Vita is just expanding on that with their own innovations. It looks a hell of a lot better than that failure called the PSP. Me choosing the 3DS over the Vita is just me being bias. I really can't choose which one is better, they both have some great games.

I heard the 3DS is supposed to be $99 on black friday. I think I saw that at gamestop. PSV, it's going to be a while before I purchase that. $250 for the console, and $90 bucks for the memory card is way too high. If the handheld is higher than the big console, something isn't right about that picture. Nintendo needs to step it up with the games and graphics though. They used to lead in the graphics department. Now they always stay behind.

I really wish there was a nes classics edition 3DS. I would get that in a heartbeat.

Vita.
it's just like comparing the WII to PS3. In the 3DS\WII you get a nice gimmick that is sometimes used in a good way( Skyward Sword/ Mario 3d Land) and the occasional Masterpiece ( The Galaxy Games, maybe Skyward)
In the PS3/Vita you get more verity of games, a lot more AAA tittles and a large number of amazing games compared to the 3DS/WII. not to mention the amazing graphical capability of the systems
Sure, i don't believe that any game on the PS3/Vita will be good as Galaxy/Whatever is the 3DS equivalent. but it's has a larger amount of great games, is technically superior, and will get toy more for your money.
bier in mind that Im a Nintendo fan, and those are my thoughts...

3DS will sell better because its cheaper. Thats it. To be quite honest, after revelations and Icarus, and i guess kingdom hearts, there do not seemt o be any major games for the 3DS coming out. If nothing else is coming out, I'm selling mine and getting a Vita. Vita has an amazing lineup: FFX Uncharted Bioshock Resistance and the graphics seem amazing.
