My options to play Ocarina of Time on my Wii U?

I want to get into the Zelda series, and I've decided to start on the first 3D game, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

I have a Wii U with some Wii U Pro Controllers and some Wii Remote Plus with the Nunchuk attachment.

I do not want to buy a Nintendo 3DS.

What are my options in playing Ocarina of Time on my Wii U?

I believe my only option is to buy the game on the Wii U Virtual Console but I thought I'd post here, in case I've missed any alternatives.

The two ways to play it on Wii U are the Wii Virtual Console (downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel) and Wii U Virtual Console (from the Wii U eShop). The Wii Virtual Console version requires a Wii Remote to boot up and a Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro to play, whereas the Wii U Virtual Console version can be loaded and played with just the Game Pad or Wii U Pro controller. The Wii U version also supports Miiverse screenshots and allows for a save state-like feature. However, the Wii Virtual Console version looks nicer and is said to run better. This may depend on your region.

Since you apparently don't own a Wii Classic Controller, you're going to need to buy the Wii U Virtual Console version off the Wii U eShop.

well you can softmod the vwii [fairly easy to do],put nintendon't on it so you can play gamecube games off a usb,and from there you can download ocarina of time master quest or the zelda collector's edition

.....i-i'm ok to say this right?

also if you wanna play zelda on your wii u,i strongly recommend going for wind waker hd instead
but then again,i guess ocarina would be more cost efficient so it's up to you

Please don't double post, I have merged these for you.

Talking about Homebrew is fine, just don't link any ROMs or ISOs.

I would only bother with this method if you really wanted to play with the Gamecube Controller. I don't recommend this for Ocarina of Time however, because it sort of relies on the C-stick, which doesn't suit this game. Additionally, the Wii U Virtual Console version gives the option to map your buttons, so you can do what feels right for you.

I recommend using the Wii version if you have a Wiimote

My experience with the Wii-U version hasn't been bad, however

Note Well - The Wii Shop content might not be transferable to the NX but the WiiU eShop content most likely will be. Also off TV exists for the WiiU version.
