Ocarina of Time Mido

We all remember when Mido was mean to Link as a kid. He was jealous that Saria and the Deku Tree seemed to favor Link. I'm playing through OoT again and I just beat the Forest Temple and I go back to talk to him in the Lost Woods;

"Oh...I see... Saria won't ever come back... But...I...I made a promise to Saria... If Link came back, I would be sure to tell him that Saria had been waiting for him... Because Saria...really... liked... Hey, you. If you see him somewhere, please let him know... And also... I'm sorry for being mean to him. Tell him that, too." — Mido

I swear I have played it a thousand times but that part still put a tear in my eye! Lame I know. But it really is one of my favorite moments of the game and one that gets overlooked a lot. Mido had few lines but was one of a few characters to actually have some character development in that game.
I always thought it was a shame we never revisit him after OoT, he was an interesting characters as were the whole Kokiri tribe. I really hope Skyward Sword brings them back.

Not lame at all....I feel the same way. I've always felt a particularly strong attachment to the Kokiri Tribe...something about those mystical spirits among whom Link had the familiarity of calling home called out to me. And that scene you speak of when you meet with Mido one last time after finishing the forest temple, that always pulled at my heartstrings as well. It wasn't just that....when you go back to speak to all of the Kokiri Tribe in the future in their individual houses, I always found it somewhat tragic how they no longer recognized you. The things they say if you talk to them...I remember there's the one that used to guard the exit to the forest, just sitting beside it wondering "Link...I wonder if he'll come back...?"

And since I've been on an image rampage today anyway, I may as well say that when I first saw this fanart depicting the scene, the sheer emotion I felt in the picture definitely did not fail to put a tear in my eye...

I really love the Kokiri and would be delighted to see them return. Seeing Fado for example, in the Wind Waker, felt sort of like a tease to me, for giving us an almost hint of more Kokiri. Fado is actually my favorite member of the Kokiri Tribe, (WW Fado, not URA Zelda Fado with the puffy pigtails) and I would have loved to have seen more of him.

That being said, I only want to see them in Skyward Sword if their placement makes sense. I would not want them thrown in for the heck of it, the way some people want to see Sheik or Fierce Deity again just because they like the characters. To be fair though, it's possible for the Kokiri to have a plausible explanation for being in Skyward Sword, so I wouldn't rule it out. We shall certainly see when it comes time...

I STILL don't understand how they didn't recognize Link! He didn't change THAT much. It would've been a stronger connection if they recognized him :P. Then again the Kokiri never grow up and even though Mido bullied Link, they all believed that he was a Kokiri too, so it's understandable why they wouldn't really recognize him

They don't recognize Link because they remember Link as a kid their age, and their hieght. as you remember, Kokiri never die, or get older than like, 10 or 11. so they dont think its Link. only Saria really knew that Link wasn't the same. She knew he was a Hylian. Link didn't figure that out until he talked to the Great Deku Tree Sprout. Which i think is sad. :(

How did they all not notice him growing up from being a baby then?

Well, I have a theory for that based off a fanfic. In the fanfic, it said that Sometimes the Deku Tree made kids so that they could grow into their eternal ages. The kids thought of the tree as their dad and the faries as their mom, so it was rare that the Deku Tree made a male fairy. AND I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMTHING. WHY DOES LINK ALWAYS TRAVEL WITH A GIRL, GOSH.
