Yep. Stone tools for butchering animals goes way back to Homo habilis around 2 million years ago, and a few knives they made, showing cutting things and stabbing things was a necessity. Most of the tools they made though were used to crack the long bones to get to the bone marrow though.

Still, knives are ancient. Like, way ancient. And swords are basically longer knives. ;)

Bread is around 8000 years old, as records of the first breadmakers were in Egypt. They kept a lot of receipts.

The oldest alcoholic beverage is mead, considering it only requires three ingredients: water, honey, and yeast, and the first archaeological record of mead mentioned by name is around 8000-9000 years old, somewhere in Africa, can't remember where.

Beer itself is as old as 6000 years, and is mentioned by name in a recipe from Ancient Sumeria. I made it once, wasn't too bad, but obviously, things became more refined what with the invention of auto siphons. :)

Wine is around 7000 years old, and the first archaeological mention of wine was in Ancient China.

Evidence also shows that Egyptians may have funded their building projects by producing and selling beer. Sooo, yeah, stabby things, bread, and alcohol have been huge deals for a long time.
