I've become obsessed with free software:

I own photoshop, but I also use GIMP.
I have Microsoft Office, but I use Open Office.
Free games are cool too.
I've been looking for a video editor, but haven't found anything good.
Linux is open source, but I don't have enough skills to actually use it :/

So, do you know of any good software?

Most of the Open Source software I use is Linux based, since that's my main OS. I really recommend at least trying Linux (Ubuntu is probably the best choice if you're new to Linux).

/Web Browsers and other applications/
Mozilla FireFox
Opera
Google Chrome
FileZilla

/Editing Tools/

Notepad++
CrimsonEditor[download mirror]
gedit
Kate (KDE based editor, can be used on Windows but is mostly for Linux)

/Multimedia/
InfraRecorder
Blender
VLC Media Player
Miro

/Programming/
DevC++
Netbeans
CodeBlocks IDE
Programmers Notepad

There's a lot more in this category, but those are the main ones I can think of. I don't know a whole lot for Windows.

Most of these applications are cross platform/for Windows, but there's a lot more just for Linux. Also, if you do ever use Linux I'd recommend Wine. You can run most Windows applications under Linux using it.

I'm not sure about video editing software for Windows.

/Linux/
Ubuntu
Wine
DistroWatch
