I've Got a Warning Saying 'you Have Committed Network Crime'...?

I was just trying to download a free trial of video converter software then accidentally I clicked on some weird link. Then after a few minutes I got this red warning that i've committed a cyber crime and there were three numbers given. Now I have to call and get a unlock code so that that software will be deleted and if I don't do that they will have me arrested in two days.. When I tried to restart the PC this warning was there.

I would like to know what is this? And is this true? Am I gonna get arrested for doing nothing? Or is this just a scam? Please answer me ASAP..

If I were you I would stand your ground. If you actually see a policeman with a badge come to your doorstep comply and explain.

It really sounds like a scam. Someone's idea of a joke. Cyber laws really are too primitive to really include anything done there. I wouldn't worry about it. I'd just use some anti-virus and anti-spamware scanners to get rid of it.

Don't do that!!! A free trial is a free trial and there is nothing illegal with downloading this. If a company offers a free trial it means you can use it with either limited or full functions for a short periode (mostly it is 30 days by default) So if you get this warning it means it is not good at all. Since when do you need to get an unlock code if you can remove the trial from your pc?? I mean after 30 days a trial normal should stop working till you get a key to activate it. This is clearly scam. Just remove the software from your pc and download another free trial somewhere else.

In the darkest parts of your imagination...
Don't worry about it. It's most likely just a scam. Use your anti-virus software, because it could probably lead to a virus. The phone number is probably fake, too. Behind it is probably just a bunch of annoying people who are trying to scare others.

It's a scam. I got this fake red screen this morning:

I knew right away it was fake because I don't watch porn and my software is genuine. And I also found a video about this scam on this blog http://deletemalware.blogspot.com/20...ork-crime.html

p.s. the vintage sheriff sign symbol in the bottom right hand corner of this warning and the "Police line do not cross" look ridiculous
