Breath of the Wild Issues with the new horse controls?

I just thought they meant if you let go of the control stick while riding, Epona won't slow down and stop but will keep going in a straight line and avoid obstacles. I don't think the controls are going to be much different. I certainly didn't think of Shadow of the Colossus when they explained the horse controls.
