Kanto: Charmander
Johto: Totodile
Hoenn: Mudkip
Sinnoh: Turtwig
Unova: Oshawott
Kalos: Chespin
Alola: Rowlett
Galar: Grookey
It's funny cause I tend to prefer water starters but with gen 7 and 8 that seemingly has changed to grass.

Out of these guys, Treecko, Cyndaquil, and Rowlet are my top three faves.

Gen 2- Totodile (though I don't love the Gen 2 starters)
Gen 3- Treecko (my very first boi)
Gen 4- Turtwig (best starter design)
Gen 5- Oshawott (hes cute af)
Gen 6- Froakie
Gen 7- Popplio (I like Primarina's design a lot, its my favorite of the final evos. Though Rowlett is the most consistently good)
Gen 8- ughhhh....Scorbunny?? but like barely, these are all bad

You can always judge by designs. That's what I did. Never played Gen 8 but I still don't like any of the full starter lines. Base forms are cute, but that's it.
