Tricky one. A big-budget game series I've felt has always had fantastic music, for all the people who hate it, is Halo. I've loved the orchestrated music it still has today and it's definitely a highlight for me everytime I play. My favourite music track from the entire series is from Halo 3: ODST, a level which I replayed simply to do battle while listening to this song.

Specifically 4:38.

There's a lot of other music too, too many to really name off the top of my head. Another track which is pretty much an epitome of good music fitting in with the theme to an environment, would be the Ravenholm theme from Half Life 2. Simple, but fits just so well!

And finally, dat Soul Blade opening! Memories.

Way way way more, System Shock had some quality tracks and more, but, those are just ones on my mind at the moment since I've been re-playing both Half Life 2 and Soul Blade. :P

Oh my God, Ravenholm... that place gave me nightmares. And the intro to the Ravenholm theme gives off an eerie vibe. But the rhythm picks up half way through the song and it makes you want to go on a zombie killing rampage. Valve truly knows how to create atmosphere in their games though. Now to patiently wait for Half Life 3. ;_;

But here is one of my favorite tracks in recent memory.

It's just such a beautiful composition. It truly does make me reflect on my adventures (especially since beautiful/epic flashbacks are playing along with the score), and makes me sad that it is the end of Commander Shepard's journey.

There are countless of great scores though, so choosing that among great tracks was pretty tough. But it was the first thing that came up into my mind since it is one of the few songs that gets any sort of emotion out of me.

However, ya'll should check out Hotline Miami's soundtrack. It's among the best I have ever heard.
