I finally gave in and watched the first season, and I got to say I absolutely loved it. The show is very dark and gritty, and there's always a lot of tension whether Mr. White is going to get caught or not. It's definitely among my favorite TV shows.

My enthusiasm for the show remains as strong now as it was when I first posted in this thread, though it has since been surpassed in the "favorite show of all time" discussion by The Wire. But that's a comparison for another day. This fifth season has been incredibly stellar, and watching Gilligan's Shakespearean drama (five seasons, five acts) conclude is quite exhilarating. Easily one of the best shows of televisions current golden age.
