I'm more on the intellectual side. Not trying to toot my own horn or anything, but I tend to think things through before buying something or making other decisions. It often puts me at odds with people that are more on the emotional side of the spectrum because we just don't get each other. :/

I think anyone who says intelligence is a liar. We are not Vulcans. We are naturally inclined to rely on emotions in decision making regardless of how much we try to stay level headed.

However.

That does not mean we should not strive to be level headed when possible. Part of maturing requires getting a better understanding of why we feel the way we do, and in doing so we can figure how to manage and utilize our emotions. We will never be perfectly logical. Sometimes our emotions will get the best of us, and that’s okay.

Well, even Vulcans have emotions, they just use extreme measures of self-control to keep their powerful emotions at bay, because they feel stronger than even we do.

At least, according to the Star Trek universe.

Which, I think that's a lovely allegory of alexithymia, as if you want to picture an alexithymic individual, Vulcans are a nice analogue.

But yes! To your point, emotion is welded to every behavior we do, as while we might use our reason to look at different options, we end up picking the option that feels the best. That tends to be the final arbiter in our decisions.

Well I mean intellect or cebereal, choleric, it means the person tackles things analytically and can keep their emotions secondary to their mind.

I am the reverse, I lead with my emotions, which makes me empathic, and sensitive to how people feel and makes me detect emotional abuse easily. But it also means I can overreact and feel so deeply that what only make one person feel hurt, makes me spiral.

Not saying all emotional types are thus, there is always a spectrum.

I wouldn't say "liar". I'd say "lier" Because they lie on their intellect. But do it again. So they rely on their intellect.

Jokes aside, "liar" is a bit of a strong word. Everyone has emotions, but some people make decisions based on them more often than others. Not saying you're WRONG, I'm saying that there are definitely people who use intelligence and experience over emotional impulsivity.

I agree. I am a realist, and would say I rely on intelligence, but more often then not. it's more like intelligence, laced with emotional bias, at least for me. I see both sides.
Yeah its not like this thread is saying emotional peeps are not intelligent or intelligent people have no emotion, its which tends to be the filter or how you respond first to things in life.

It seems that a lot of people are more emotional than they think they are. I'd like to think that I'm a rational thinker and think decisions over, but then that hyrule edition switch was announced...

I'm probably a mix between the two, I can get very emotional at times, but other times I can really think smart at the moment. Depends on how I'm doing at the time.
