Majora's Mask Crashing on Collectors Edition Disc

Hi

I started a new file on majoras mask yesterday. I played on the wii via the GC zelda collectors edition disc. However, the game crashed on me in clocktown - when I left town, before it changed scene, the screen froze and stayed black. I couldn't do anything about this except turn the power off and lose my saved progress...

Now, I read up on this afterwards. And apparantly, MM on the GC zelda collectors edition disc crashes a lot... so I know it's not just me. I am not too far on the game, so I am thinking of just downloading it for the virtual console instead and starting again.

My question is: Does MM work fine on the virtual console? No crashing like the version I'm currently playing on?

Thanks

Thanks for the heads up. I downloaded MM for the VC and started again (better safe than sorry), and now I am back where I was. Everything's running smoothly so far, much better

MM crashed for me a bit on Collectors Edition. I had to start dungeons over again quite a few times. I also lost several masks! :( But i ain't complaining, I love Majoras Mask so playing a few segments of the game over again was a treat :P

Really if you want to use some money, why not? What I do is I try to save after each important part that you don't have to repeat. It hardly crashes, really. But it still can sometimes, I suppose maybe you gotta get used to that sort of a thing.

Majora's Mask crashed suprisingly on the virtual console for me. I first entered the Ikana Graveyard and then an annoying buzzing sound started then the game crashed. I was an awe for the next hour. </3

Darn, hope this doesn't happen to me.

So far I've beat the woodfall temple, and no crashes yet

I actually heard that the game doesn't crash as much in Collector's Edition if you turn the rumble feature off.

I've never had the Collector's Disk crash while playing it on the Game Cube, but it crashes if I play it on the Wii. The VC version has not crashed for me at all yet. Good luck, and have fun!

My theory:
1. Developers had only 1 year to do the game, and it wasn't tested enough before the GCN release. For these reasons, Majora's Mask is just buggy and doesn't like emulators. Both GameCube and Wii version runs under emulation, but VC emulator is different than the GCN one, and better.
2. There might be issues with memory. When you run Majora's Mask (GameCube), the N64 ROM of it is loaded into console's internal memory. Maybe required amount of it jumps into very high values from time to time? If there is not enough memory, then the game crashes.
