There is nothing that hinders games which features images of the Triforce (SS is not included) to be placed before OoT, since the legend of the Triforce would have been known before the time of OoT (since the image of it is everywhere).
The war prior to OoT was a war of unification, which ended with a united Hyrule.
The last war confirmed to be about the Triforce is the Interloper War (from TP), which must take place before the Sacred Realm was sealed by the Temple of Time/Master Sword, so it likely takes place a long time before OoT.
