It almost sounds like they actually are giving in t the cringiest part of the fandom. Since typically step #2 to being a Sonic fan online is to make a half dozen OCs of various characters with 1-2 clones of Sonic or Knuckles.

Or maybe Sega actually took a look at the fandom (hope they did not look too deeply) and assumed that the major aspect of the fans is that they create OCs all day and night. Then decided to have a game work around that.

Whoa whoa whoa there good sir. I can attest that they aren't doing fan service to the cringiest of the Sonic fandom.... Considering what happened in 2006....

Or even with the game after that....

Yeah.... By all means, OC's aren't even close to the worst that Sonic Team has done. Even at the worst, we will have some amazing memes by the end of 2017. And hey, at its best. It might be a pretty cool feature in the end.
