" Consecutive hits boost your score! If you hit targets marked with Xs, you'll lose points. "
Goron Target Practice (The Gorons' Target Game in the European/Australian version) is the first stage of Level 2 in Link's Crossbow Training. Set in Goron City from Twilight Princess, it is 60 seconds long (20 seconds for each of the three sections), and played in first-person. The music that plays during this stage is the Goron theme from Twilight Princess.
It is worth noting that while the placements of each target may not be on the same Goron, each "cycle" will consist of the same targets.
Sections
This stage is broken up into three sections, all of which are presented in a first-person perspective.
First
Three Gorons stand on a rocky shelf; each will periodically roll and place a target on their bellies. A red target is worth 10 points, or 30 for a bull's-eye; green/gold targets 50 or 150, and blue Xs are minus 100 points and the loss of the current score multiplier. The faster the non-X targets are cleared, the quicker the next set of targets will roll up, and the more potential points can be gained.
The targets in each "cycle" are as follows: 1st: 2 reds, 1 X 2nd: 1 red, 1 gold, 1 X 3rd: 1 red, 1 gold, 1 X 4th: 1 gold, 2 Xs 5th: 1 red, 2 golds 6th: 2 golds, 1 X
6 is the last possible cycle, only barely possible by shooting all targets as fast as possible.[1]
A fairy and an Orange Rupee are randomly concealed in one of the jars or barrels behind for up to 1000 points each.
Second
Five Gorons stand in two rows, but otherwise this section follows the same rules as the first.
The targets in each "cycle" are as follows: 1st: 3 reds, 1 gold, 1 X 2nd: 2 reds, 1 gold, 2 Xs 3rd: 1 red, 1 gold, 3 Xs 4th: 2 reds, 1 gold, 2 Xs 5th: 3 reds, 2 golds 6th: 2 golds, 3 Xs
Cycle 6 is only barely possible after shooting all targets as fast as possible.[1]
Another Orange Rupee is concealed a random jar.
Third
Seven Gorons stand at increasing distances from Link - accurately shooting the farthest targets may be difficult without the use of the zoom function. Otherwise, once again, the basic rules are the same.
The targets in each "cycle" are as follows: 1st: 3 reds, 1 gold, 3 Xs 2nd: 2 reds, 2 golds, 3 Xs 3rd: 2 reds, 1 gold, 4 Xs 4th: 2 reds, 1 gold, 4 Xs 5th: 5 reds, 2 golds
Fully clearing the 5th wave before the timer ends is only barely possible in a Tool-Assisted setting.[1]
A scarecrow is positioned to the right of the screen, for up to 1000 points. There is also a third Orange Rupee in the pots behind the Gorons. At around 35 targets hit, Link may be given a Triforce bonus of 5000 points.
