Zora's Domain is a location in Ocarina of Time, the primary home of the Zora.
Ocarina of Time
The main entrance to Zora's Domain is at the head of Zora's River, behind the Sleepless Waterfall. To part the waterfall so that he can enter, Link must play Zelda's Lullaby on his Fairy Ocarina or Ocarina of Time while standing on the stone tablet directly in front of it.
On entry, the main chamber is a large cavern, mostly filled with water with a large waterfall visible; toward the back (as viewed from the main entrance) is an area with a lowered ceiling and shallow water; following the path in this direction leads to the Zora Shop and a signposted path upstairs to King Zora's Chamber, where King Zora sits in front of the path to Zora's Fountain. Off this chamber is the High Dive Practice Spot, where an unnamed Zora stands at the top of the waterfall to run the Diving Game, where Link can win a Silver Scale.
Once he has a Silver Scale, there is an entrance below the water level in the main chamber which he will now be able to dive deep enough to reach - this is a two-way warp to Lake Hylia and back, where Link can find Ruto's Letter in a bottle. Link needs to show this letter to King Zora to be allowed passage through King Zora's Chamber to Zora's Fountain. To get Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly, he will also need a fish, which he can scoop into his bottle in the shallow area of the Domain, near the Zora Shop entrance.
Seven years later, Zora's Domain has entirely frozen over, with most Zoras seemingly-permanently trapped under the ice, with only three exceptions - Ruto was apparently rescued and resuscitated by Sheik, while King Zora is trapped in Red Ice, which also blocks the Zora Shop. Red ice can be melted with bottled Blue Fire from the Ice Cavern in Zora's Fountain, opening the Zora Shop - where the shopkeeper is apparently unharmed after being trapped for an extended time - and freeing King Zora. Expressing his gratitude to Link for saving his life, King Zora gives him a Zora Tunic. While the Domain never unfreezes in the course of the game, Ruto reassures Link that "Zora's Domain and its people will eventually return to their original state" after awakening as the Sage of Water.
As part of the Biggoron's Sword Trading Sequence, Link can take the prescription to the unfrozen King Zora and get an Eyeball Frog to take to the Lake Scientist to make the World's Finest Eye Drops for Biggoron.
King Zora's Chamber
- Main article: King Zora's Chamber
King Zora's Chamber, also called King Zora's Throne Room, sits at the highest point of Zora's Domain, in front of the passage to Zora's Fountain. A Gossip Stone sits between King Zora and the platform where Link must stand to speak with him. After rescuing her from Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly, Princess Ruto stands here beside her father.
Zora Shop
- Main article: Zora Shop (Ocarina of Time)
A shop selling largely basic items. Despite their sign advertising fresh fish, a Zora warns Link off buying their overpriced fish when they can be found swimming around in the shallows of the Domain. As an adult, Link can buy a Zora Tunic for 300 rupees, but as King Zora gives Link one for free after being unfrozen, this is only worthwhile if the free one is eaten by a Like-Like.
Diving Game
- Main article: Diving Game
Costs 20 rupees. A Zora will throw a handful of rupees from the High Dive Practice Spot. If Link collects them all within 50 seconds, he will win a Silver Scale, which is necessary to collect Ruto's Letter. Otherwise - and on subsequent plays - he gets to keep all rupees collected.
Piece of Heart
To get a Piece of Heart, while Link is a child, he must lit the five unlit braziers in the Domain:
- As a child, run up to the King Zora's Chamber and light a Deku Stick, then run down the stairs and light the large brazier at the corner. This one will stay lit.
- Get out a new Deku Stick so you have the most time and run down the ramp.
- Next to the shop is another brazier, continue on into the water.
- In the northern corner is a brazier next to a circle of stones. Light it and then quickly head to the waterfall.
- The final two braziers are behind the waterfall. Stay close to the edge, run inside and light them to make a large chest appear.
Gold Skulltula
As an adult, there is a night-only Gold Skulltula near the top of the frozen waterfall. Go through King Zora's Chamber and walk right up to the edge. Turn to the left and defeat the Skulltula.
Fairy's Fountain
After coming through the main entrance Zora's Domain, jump off the ledge to the left to land in the water or on top of the ice. Stand on the small island here and play the Song of Storms, causing a small hole to appear. Drop down to find the Fairy's Fountain.
