Death Mountain Trail is a location from Ocarina of Time. It is the pathway ascending the slopes of Death Mountain; it connects Goron City and Kakariko Village,[1] and includes the Death Mountain Summit.
Ocarina of Time
The trail begins at a gate monitored by a guard at the western end of Kakariko Village and goes to the summit of Death Mountain. Along the trail is the entrance to Dodongo's Cavern, which is made accessible by throwing a Bomb Flower from higher up on the trail at the boulder blocking the way. There is also a Piece of Heart atop the entrance to Dodongo's Cavern that can be collected either by backflipping from a higher point of the trail or by planting a Magic Bean at the base. After obtaining the Bomb Bag from Dodongo's Cavern, Link can destroy rocks on the side of the path exposing alcoves with hidden treasures inside them. There are many Gorons along the trail along with some Tektites.
A cow resides in a Secret Grotto, where 26 rupees can be found. Two bombable walls exist - one near Kakariko Village has a Gold Skullula (see #25, below); the other, near Goron City, has a Purple Rupee in a small Treasure Chest.
Pieces of Heart
#26: As a child, plant a Magic Bean in the soft soil at the entrance of Dodongo's Cavern. As an adult, Link can ride the resulting Magic Bean plant to jump on to the ledge above the entrance. where a Piece of Heart awaits. Another way to get there is to go to the Bomb Flower that is directly above Dodongo's Cavern. Move the Bomb Flower out of the way, then face away towards the southeast (opposite the cavern), target and backflip. If done right, Link will land on the platform and can get the Piece of Heart early.
Gold Skulltulas
#21: There is a soft soil patch directly outside Dodongo's Cavern. Drop some bugs onto it from a bottle and the Skulltula will appear.
#25: On the lowest part of the trail, between Kakariko Village and Dodongo's Cavern, there is a bombable wall on the side where you can hear a Gold Skulltula. Bomb the wall, defeat the Skulltula, and climb the wall for the token.
#63: Night only. On the upper part of the trail, where there are falling boulders as a child and as an adult until the Fire Temple is cleared, there are three rocks which bombs cannot break. The closest one to the summit has a Gold Skulltula hiding behind it. At nighttime, break the boulder with the Megaton Hammer and collect the token.
