The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (トワイライトプリンセス) is the 13th installment in The Legend of Zelda series. Set over a century after the events of Majora's Mask, the game follows Link as he attempts to save Hyrule from being subsumed by the Twilight Realm, an alternate dimension wreathed in shadow - along the way, Link is able to transform between the forms of a Hylian and a wolf, and is aided by Midna, a mysterious imp native to the Twilight Realm. The game features a notably darker, more realistic art style compared to its predecessor, The Wind Waker - this has been interpreted as a response to the backlash that The Wind Waker, particularly in the West, received for its brightly colored, cel-shaded art style.

The game was originally planned to release for the Nintendo GameCube in 2005, but was delayed so that Nintendo could expand upon the content and create a port for the Nintendo Wii. The Wii version was released as a launch title in November 2006 in North America, and was released the following month in Japan, Europe, and Australia; the GameCube version was released in December 2006, as the final first-party title on the console. Upon release, Twilight Princess received critical acclaim and won several Game of the Year awards, being cited as one of the greatest video games of all time. It is the second-best selling Zelda game behind Breath of the Wild, having sold over 8.85 million copies as of 2015, and the Wii port received a "Nintendo Selects" label in 2011. A remaster of the GameCube version, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, was released for the Wii U in March 2016.

Story

This game's story takes place after the Child Ending of Ocarina of Time, when that generation's Princess Zelda sent the Hero of Time back in time to prevent the events of Ocarina of Time and allowed him to live out his childhood.

This generation's Link lives a peaceful life in Ordon Village as a goat herder and animal wrangler. He is a valuable friend to both the village and forest. One day, Link is given the opportunity to visit Castle Town as an envoy to present a specially crafted sword to the royal family. Before Link embarks, however, tragedy strikes the village and he is forced to leave his tranquil life behind. Link must venture forth into the vast land of Hyrule to bring peace back to his village and, along the way, uncover the secret behind the mysterious Twilight.
